What kind of fish is this? It's very fierce. It's everywhere in the river here, it's very common. Can you cook it and eat it?
Climbing perch, which is also known by the longer-known names of overhill carp, walking fish and climbing perch, or ba-mao in our Teochew vernacular, has hard gill covers and dorsal fins, which make it easy to stab people. It is one of the world's most resilient fish species, surviving in extremely harsh conditions. The ditch next to my house is now heavily polluted, but there are still species of fish that survive. Some people keep it as an ornamental fish.
