One of the eight treasures is a national second-class protected animal. Feilong is distributed in Changbai Mountain, Altai Mountain in Xinjiang, Daxing 'anling and Xiaoxing 'anling in Northeast China.

A flying bird is very much like a pigeon, with a small head and a short neck, white and tender meat, and a big and plump chest. It is dominated by plants and also eats insects in summer. In winter, it lives in groups and spends the night under the snow. Since 1930s, the flying dragon birds have been affected by environmental destruction, deforestation and overfishing, and some places have become extinct. Xiāo, goshawk and some weasels are the main natural enemies of the pheasant.
