Sanlin Town is located in the southwestern part of Pudong New Area, north and Shanggang Xincun Street, Zhoujiadu Street across the Chuanyang River, east and Liuli Town, Beicai Town, Nanhui County, south and Minhang District, Pujiang Town, west of the Huangpu River. The total area is 31.28 square kilometers, of which 1098.4 hectares are cultivated land; **** there are 29110 households and 74932 people, of which 11874 households and 30842 people are agricultural population. Under the jurisdiction of 24 village committees and 11 neighborhood committees.

The town is crossed by the Outer Ring Road and Xupu Bridge in the south, which is an important channel connecting Pudong International Airport and Hongqiao International Airport; there is a 3-kilometer long waterfront; the crisscrossing transportation network is formed by the South Yanggao Road, the South Shangnan Road, the Jiyang Road, the Pusan Road, as well as the Chuanyang River and the Sanlintang Harbor, and so on.

Agricultural income of 128 million yuan, has been from a single vegetable-based moderate to seedlings, flowers, economic fruit forests, ecological forests, the continuous introduction of famous, special, excellent, new, rare new varieties, and promote the adjustment of agricultural structure.

The town's tertiary industry totaled 2.123 billion yuan, of which the income of the real estate industry amounted to 920 million yuan. The Sanlin area has a long history of dragon dance, with novel choreography, rich imagination, exquisite dance skills, unique, and in 2000, it was named "Hometown of Chinese Folk Art" by the Department of Social Planning of the Ministry of Culture.

One of the oldest Taoist temples in Shanghai, Chongfu Taoist Temple (commonly known as "Sacred Hall"), is located in the southwest of the town. It is said to have been built in the Three Kingdoms period, rebuilt in the 38th year of the Ming Dynasty, and restored in 1987.

During the Tenth Five-Year Plan period, Sanlin Town was listed as a key town for small town construction in Pudong New Area, with a master plan of 8.07 square kilometers for the central urban area and a population of 300,000, which is to be built as an ecological, intelligent, humanistic and modern urban new town.
