After years of hard work, Anhui Tongqinglou Group is now a famous chain enterprise both inside and outside the province, and has played a great role in promoting the development of the catering industry in Anhui Province.

In 2010, Tongqinglou, as the only representative of Huizhou cuisine of the eight Chinese cuisines, was selected for the World Expo, and Chiu Fu Restaurant (Guangdong), Zhiwei Guan (Zheijiang), and Yueyuelou (Suzhou), and other old Chinese restaurants, which have won wide acclaim from both domestic and overseas guests.

Tongqinglou was founded in 1925 by 19 Huizhou merchants, who elected Cheng Yuyu, a native of Jixi, Huizhou province, to be its manager. The restaurant was located on Zhong Er Street in Wuhu City, and featured Anhui-style dishes along the river.
According to pre-liberation local records, in 1932, the master of Tongqinglou invented Xiaolongbao (small dumplings) made of hot noodles, rewriting the history of Chinese people who had been using hairy noodles to make dumplings and spreading them to the whole country.
Because of insisting on the principles of "treating people with sincerity", "accepting things with faith" and "taking righteousness as profit", Tongqinglou became famous in the south of the Yangtze River, and the celebrities and elegant people came to the restaurant in great numbers. It was one of the famous restaurants in China at that time.
During the period of the national government in Nanjing, Chiang Kai-shek also came to Tongqinglou many times to entertain guests.
Moved to Zhongshan Road in 1952, the restaurant was expanded several times from the 1950s to the 1980s, and added Huaiyang-style dishes, such as "duck with golden sauce", "bad meat", "carp in lotus bag" and other famous dishes. The main famous dishes include "duck in golden sauce", "fragrant bad pork", "crucian carp in lotus bread", and other famous snacks such as crab roe soup dumplings and boiled dried silk.
Famous actors such as Yan Fengying and Wang Shaofang have been in residence.

In 1965, President Ho Chi Minh of Vietnam tasted "anchovy with cream" in the restaurant.
In 1999, the restaurant was recognized by the Ministry of Trade as one of the "old Chinese brands", which was awarded to only 56 restaurants in China.
In 2004, the restaurant entered Hefei, and in 2010, it was selected as the only representative brand of Hui Cuisine, one of the eight major Chinese cuisines, at the Shanghai World Expo, showing the world the unique charm of Chinese cuisine.
