After the establishment of People's Republic of China (PRC), the two counties still belong to Chizhou area of southern Anhui administrative office. February 24th 1953, changed to Anqing, Anhui Province. In May, 1959 and 15 merged into dongzhi county, with Duyao Town as the county seat, still belonging to Anqing area. On July 1965 and 14, dongzhi county was changed to Chizhou district, and on March 29th 197 1, the district was changed to district, and the affiliation remained unchanged. 1980 1 29 was changed to Anqing administrative office. On September 2 1988, Chizhou administrative office was restored, and dongzhi county was subordinate to Chizhou administrative office. On June 25th, 2000, the State Council approved the revocation of county-level Chizhou area and Guichi City, and the establishment of prefecture-level Chizhou City.
