Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture is located in the southeast of Guizhou Province. Jurisdiction over 16 counties and cities, with Kaili as the state capital. It is adjacent to Huaihua, Hunan in the east, Liuzhou and Hechi in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in the south, Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in southern Guizhou in the west and Zunyi and Tongren in the north. The whole territory is 220 kilometers wide from east to west, 240 kilometers long from north to south, and 0/60 kilometers away from Guiyang, the provincial capital, in the west.
Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture is located in the transition zone from Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau to Guixiang hilly basin. According to stratum rocks and geological external forces, the territory can be divided into karst landform area and denudation and erosion landform area.
Qiandongnan Prefecture is rich in forest resources and is known as "mountain township" and "beautiful forest". It is one of the key forest areas in China and the main timber forest base in Guizhou Province. There are 10 key forestry counties in the whole province, including 8 in Qiandongnan prefecture.
Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture has landscape scenery represented by Yanghe and Yuntai Mountain. Miao scenery represented by Kaili, Taijiang and Leishan and Dong scenery represented by Liping, Congjiang and Rongjiang; There are other scenic spots such as Shibing Cunninghamia lanceolata River, Ping Huang Dongye River, Jianhe Hot Spring and Cengong Longbie River.
