I have been to some cities and walked through different old streets, and the most impressive one is Dongguan Street in Yangzhou.
Walking in Dongguan Street, there were waves of flutes coming from Tao Di's shop in the distance. The flutes were low and melodious, simple and remote, and seemed to see bloom's flowers fall, rise and fall, as if dreaming back to a thousand years.
There are many shops on both sides of the street, including Xie Fuchun Cosmetics Store, Fuhexuan Lacquerware Store, Wugufeng Cake Store, Shangda Knife and Scissors Store, Sixi Tangyuan Store, Huaiyang Cuisine Restaurant and Yangzhou Specialty Supermarket.
There are many old houses in Dongguan Street, such as Geyuan, Yiyuan, Dongrong Garden, Jienan Bookstore, Hu Zhonghan's former residence, Li Changle's former residence, Wudang Palace, and the former site of Subei Administrative Office. Tall and mottled stone walls, magnificent doors, and behind every door, there is a story of yesterday.
I often go to Jienan Bookstore, which used to be the house of Ma brothers, a salt merchant. When I step into Jienan Bookstore, I see a winding porch with a small lake in the middle. Sitting in the porch and looking at the green and quiet lake, I seem to see that many years ago, the owner of this house and the literati they invited were chanting poems in this garden, or playing the piano in the Qingxiang Pavilion on the rockery.
There are many alleys in Dongguan Street. One day, I turned into an alley, which was quiet and sparsely populated. Walking slowly, I found many small shops, where handfuls of simple and elegant guqin were hung. It turned out to be a guqin street, which was really surprising. Yangzhou guqin flourished since ancient times, and Guangling Guqin School was born here, and many guqin masters also came from here. In a guqin shop, a pianist is teaching two girls to learn guqin. It seems that the two girls should be waiters in the restaurant next to them. The cultural atmosphere of guqin here is really strong. Walking out of Guqin Street, the quiet and clear sound of the piano still echoes in my ears for a long time.
Walk into Dongguan Street, approach the profound culture, the long history and the bustling fireworks.
