This monument is called "Victory Rescue Monument". This monument was a "successful rescue" organized by local people and Dongjiang guerrillas to rescue cultural celebrities and patriotic Democrats who fell into Hong Kong and Kowloon during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period. To commemorate this event, people built this monument in the square.
