Hebei Provincial Industrial College, Hebei Provincial Institute of Technology, Hebei Provincial Institute of Technology and Hebei Institute of Technology were merged with Beiyang University to form Tianjin University in 1951, resumed and rebuilt in 1958, merged with Tianjin Institute of Technology in 1962 and renamed Tianjin Institute of Technology in 1971, and renamed Hebei Institute of Technology in 1995.
