Polyester fiber is durable, wrinkle-resistant, non-ironing and non-sticky. Mainly used for clothing and interior decoration. Its biggest advantages are good wrinkle resistance and shape retention, high strength and elastic recovery.
Polyester fiber is a synthetic fiber composed of polyester linear macromolecules formed by polycondensation of diol and diacid or ω-hydroxy acid. In recent years, people have conducted extensive research on polyester fiber, but there are not many kinds of industrialization. At present, the large-scale industrial production of polyester fiber is made of polyethylene terephthalate, which can also be called PET fiber according to its English abbreviation, and its trade name in China is polyester. Among the three kinds of synthetic fibers (polyester, polyamide and polyacrylonitrile), polyester fiber has achieved the latest industrialization, but the fastest development. 1960 the output of polyester fiber surpassed that of polyacrylonitrile fiber, and 1972 surpassed that of polyamide fiber, becoming the largest variety of chemical fiber. The specific varieties of polyester fiber are: polyethylene terephthalate fiber, polybutylene terephthalate fiber, polypropylene terephthalate fiber, polyethylene terephthalate-1, 4- cyclohexane dimethyl fiber, polyethylene-2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylate fiber and various modified polyester-based fibers. Up to now, more than 90% of polyester fibers are still PET fibers, so the so-called polyester fibers mostly refer to PET fibers.
