There is a beautiful legend about Zhao Zhouqiao. It is said that Zhao Zhouqiao was built by Lu Ban. After the completion of this bridge, Zhang Guolao, one of the Eight Immortals, rode on a donkey and took Chai Rong with him, and rushed to catch up with the fun. When they came to the bridge, they happened to meet Luban, so they asked whether the bridge could stand them. Lu Ban thought to himself, this bridge can be crossed by mules, horses and carts, so two people are nothing, so he invited them to the bridge. Who knows, Zhang Guolao took the wallet with the sun and the moon on it, and Chai Rong pushed the car with the "Five Mountains and Famous Mountains", so after they got on the bridge, the bridge was crushed and rocked. When Lu Ban saw that it was not good, he quickly jumped into the water and supported the east side of the bridge with his hands. Because Luban worked too hard, his handprint was left under the east arch of the bridge; As a result, the bridge left donkey's hoof prints, driveway ditches, a knee print left by Chai Rong when he fell, and a round pit made by Zhang Guolao when he fell on the bridge. Of course, this is just a fairy tale made up by people to commemorate the ancient craftsmen.
The inscription on Anji Bridge by Zhang Jiazhen in Tang Dynasty records: "The stone bridge on the Weihe River in Zhao County is also the trace of Li Chun, a craftsman of Sui Dynasty. It is strange to make, and people don't know why. " According to this, Zhao Zhouqiao is the work of Li Chun, but the local people would rather believe that this bridge was built by the immortal Lu Ban Ye. Therefore, there is another legend. The Little Cowherd sings like this: "Zhao Zhouqiao Lu Ban Ye repaired it, the jade railing sage stayed, Zhang Guolao rode on the donkey bridge, and Chai Wangye rolled over a ditch ..." Regarding Li Chun, except for the word "craftsman" mentioned above, there is no trace in the history books. Now there is a statue of Li Chun in the park, which was sculpted nine years ago. The middle-aged bachelor is dressed in elegant style, holding a roll of drawings in his left hand. Twenty-four years ago, in the same place, there was another statue of young Li Chun, dressed as a craftsman, with his shoulders bare and his right hand clutching a hammer, which was rough and clumsy. This change is also very interesting. It is better to say that the national conditions of China have changed than that people have different understandings of Li Chun in different times.
The word "craftsman" can be interpreted as both a craftsman engaged in specific labor and an official who specializes in construction. For example, Yuwen Kai, a planner of Chang 'an City and an expert of noble architecture in Sui Dynasty, was once a "master craftsman", but of course, it can also be extended to "a person with deep attainments or accomplishments in a certain field". According to common sense, a bridge design and construction project as complicated as Zhao Zhouqiao requires not only superb technology and exquisite craftsmanship, but also a lot of manpower, material resources and financial resources. The host must be an experienced philosopher or a technocrat like Yuwen Kai.
