Jianghan Road is located in the center of Hankou, starting from yanjiang road in the south, running through Zhongshan Avenue and Jinghan Avenue, and ending at Jiefang Avenue in the north, with a total length of 1,611 meters. With a width of 11 to 25 meters, it is a famous century-old commercial street in Wuhan. Jianghan Road, from yanjiang road to Hualou Street, was once the "foreign street" in the British Concession in the late Qing Dynasty. On the map of Wuhan towns drawn by modern historical geographer Yang Shoujing in 1891, Guangli Lane is to the east of this section. At the end of the Qing dynasty, with the development of commerce and foreign trade, many bank buildings were built in this section, and the streets were widened to 12 meters. The sovereignty was occupied by the British Concession and renamed Taiping Street. Jianghan Road Pedestrian Street Since 1916, Liu Xinsheng, the "land king", first filled up from the lake pond around Jianghan Road, and gradually filled it into the back flower building of Jianghan Road to the subgrade outside the railway, forming Xinsheng Road. After the Revolution of 1911, Chinese capitalists rose rapidly. In less than 11 years, Jianghan Road became a bustling commercial street in Hankou. In the early years of the Republic of China, "Hankou Zhuzhi Ci Xin Sheng Road" described the bustling scene of Jianghan Road in that year: "The front flower building is connected with the back flower building, and it goes straight out of Xin Sheng Road. The horses and chariots are like a shuttle, and the songs are blowing at night." Historically, Jianghan Road was actually the dividing line between Chinese and foreigners. Hualou Street, Huangpi Street to the west of Jianghan Road and the adjacent Daxing Road are shops, workshops, food stores with shops in front and factories in the back. And its street is basically banks, companies and shops opened by imperialist countries, bureaucrats and national capitalists. In addition, Jianghan Guan Ferry Terminal welcomes tourists, creating a commercial atmosphere of Jianghan Road. In 1927, China recovered the British Concession in Hankou, and Taiping Street and Xinsheng Road were renamed Jianghan Road. Today, there are 13 outstanding modern historical buildings left on Jianghan Road, which is the historical witness of Jianghan Road's prosperous commercial city. The bustling street scene of Jianghan (Hendali on Jianghan Road in 1931) shows Jianghan Road edited by Zhejiang Industrial Bank on Xinsheng Road (now Jianghan Road)-Jianghan Road of the Architecture Museum, which is 1211m away. The most attractive thing is to line up all kinds of buildings: European style, Roman style, Byzantine style, Renaissance style, classicism and modernism ... People say that Jianghan Road is Wuhan 21. Looking at the pedestrian street from yanjiang road, Jianghan Pass and Nissin Bank stand side by side. As a modern landmark building in Wuhan, Jianghan Pass's solemn and elegant classical style exudes from the color of stone materials and the delicate Ranunculus leaves of Corinthian columns. The architect of house maintenance evaluates it as a huge living work of art. The Nissin foreign firm, however, shows the dignified and magnificent ancient Roman style everywhere: the crown dome tower, the heavy horizontal eaves and the vertical elevation. The steps between the colonnade are authoritative, and every stone on the thick wall is dignified, which is indeed a symbol of the bank. Next to Nissin Foreign Firm is Nisshin Bank. From a distance, the two buildings are integrated and complement each other: similar architectural shapes, the same masonry, and the same colonnade rhythm, just like a huge and continuous Rondo. Wandering in Jianghan Road, the buildings built by the Bank of Taiwan, the Bank of Shanghai and the Bank of Daqing with pieces of stones are exquisite in ornamental design, beautiful in linear form and rich in put in order, which is amazing. In Jianghan Road Pedestrian Street, you can also appreciate another style-modern buildings filled with simplicity, purity and smooth lines. Among them, the landmark China Industrial Bank and Siming Bank, which were built in 1934 and 1936 respectively, were all created by the architect Lu Yongbiao. Siming Bank was established in 1934. The whole building rises from the ground, with a light color and a long height. Even the doors and windows are made of thin black irons. Citic Industrial Bank's black marble exterior wall on the ground floor and the Chu red exterior wall on the middle and upper floors go straight to the spire, leading the tallest high-rise buildings in decades with a height of 48.5 meters. It is a model of Wuhan modernist architecture and has a milestone significance. Looking away from the gloomy gray, there are many colorful houses on Jianghan Road. The first one is the Shanghai village building complex, with red tiles, clear water walls, wooden windows and white chimneys, which is a modern European scenery. The perspective moves to the side of the street, and the colorful buildings that overlap with each other add a bit of active atmosphere to the commercial street. Crossing Zhongshan Avenue, Daqing Bank and Hankou Branch of China Bank guard the intersection of Jianghan Road and Zhongshan Avenue. Daqing Bank Building, built in 1916, is square, imposing and outstanding in classical style. Further on, the Chinese products company building (now Xuangong Hotel and Central Department Store) has a European style. It started construction in 1928, with a strange shape and an L-shape. Standing in Zhongbai Square, looking up at the sky along Jianghan Road, Zhongbai, Xuangong Hotel and the building directly opposite draw the most beautiful skyline in Hankou. The building's decorative columns, curved corners, and open domed towers and pavilions have broken the flatness of the roof of Chinese buildings and appear to be patchwork. The apex cone at the top of the pavilion has an upward impulse, which makes the whole city seem to be in a passion for the blue sky. There are 13 historic buildings on Jianghan Road, including 1 at the provincial level, 6 at the municipal level and 6 at the municipal level. Welcome to visit Jianghan Road Pedestrian Street!
