Trademark international registration
There are three ways for applicants to apply for registration of trademarks abroad: single country registration, regional registration and Madrid international trademark registration. "Madrid Union" means the Special Union for the International Registration of Marks comprising the countries or intergovernmental organizations to which the Madrid Agreement and the Madrid Protocol apply. As of 2021, the Madrid Union*** has 108 Contracting Parties covering 124 countries. China, the United States, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, Korea, Russia, Australia, Switzerland and other major economies in the world are members of the Madrid Union.
