Jianshui and courtyard gate, as a traditional courtyard-style building developed after the Central Plains courtyard-style building moved south to Yunnan, have special value. No matter the architectural structure or the way of decoration, it has its unique development history. The architectural modeling, internal structure and details decoration are all based on the traditional Zhongyuan courtyard-style architecture, integrating the ideology, culture and customs of local ethnic minorities in Yunnan, forming its own architectural decoration characteristics. Jianshui folk houses have formed two different facade forms, inside and outside, because the inward space is created as a public center. The exterior is usually surrounded by thick and dense walls, and the second floor of the house is opened with small windows, showing a certain degree of closeness, defensiveness and sense of volume. The inner facade is light and transparent, and the combination of doors and windows forms a flexible and multilateral form, which is like an ancient Indian building in central Yunnan with the same decorative characteristics. The stylization of Jianshui folk houses is also reflected in the external form. The main buildings adjacent to each house are enclosed in the walls and gates, and the whole house can rarely be seen from the street. To this end, the continuous changes in the facade and roof of the streets combine the main external style characteristics of the residential buildings in Jianshui Courtyard. In Jianshui Courtyard-style residential buildings, the external walls in different positions have their own methods in the artistic treatment of the facade. The facades of the back eaves and gables are all three-stage. The bottom is built with gray lath, rubble or blue bricks. In the treatment of the upper section, the gables are decorated with local large blue bricks (gold-clad jade method), which basically accounts for 25% of the total height of the house. Among them, the back eave wall is mostly connected with the eaves by the foot of the brick, and the decorative surface form of the gable blue brick has various specific methods because of the different forms of single slope or double slope of the roof and the depth of the house.
