Originally a decoration design major of Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts, the Department of Graphic Design is a teaching and research unit focusing on various image information transmission research in the field of art design.

Teaching objective: to train senior professionals for professional design institutions, universities and scientific research units engaged in advertising design, packaging design, corporate image design, book binding design and web design teaching and design.

There are two professional directions: graphic design, multimedia and web design.

Main courses: advertising design, packaging design, logo design, corporate image design, book design, web design, display design, two-dimensional animation, three-dimensional animation, three-dimensional modeling, video editing and so on.

Department of industrial design

Teaching and research institutions that focus on industrial product modeling research. The study of this department spans three major disciplines: literature, science and engineering.

Teaching objective: to train industrial product designers and related senior professional researchers. Has 1000 square meters of industrial molding laboratory.

Main courses: mechanical drawing, professional painting, computer-aided design, materials and technology, product structure, ergonomics, product design, thematic design, graduation design and graduation thesis.

Department of Dyeing, Weaving and Fashion Design

Is a teaching and research unit focusing on the design of dyed and woven fabrics and clothing design.

Teaching goal: to train all kinds of fabric designers and fashion designers, as well as senior research-oriented talents majoring in dyeing, weaving and clothing. The department has two major directions: dyeing and weaving art design and clothing design. There is also a well-equipped comprehensive laboratory for dyeing and weaving garments, which consists of computer and digital inkjet room, sewing technology room and hand-painted printing and dyeing room.

Main courses: clothing design, women's clothing design, men's clothing design, research and analysis of Chinese and foreign classic patterns, integrated design of clothing and fabrics, etc.

Comprehensive design department

The comprehensive design department was formally established in August 2004. It is a new design specialty, not from the existing definition specialty, but from the demand. Diversified discipline structure, open teaching and experimental contents and diversified teaching methods will become the distinctive features of discipline research and teaching practice in the Department of Comprehensive Design. It is not only a simple synthesis of several original design majors, but also a new major that can cover the subject characteristics of several majors and independently undertake the research tasks and teaching tasks of complex disciplines, emerging disciplines, interdisciplinary disciplines and marginal disciplines.

Comprehensive design actively advocates observing design behavior in the spirit of humanistic care. It will think about design problems from the height of humanistic value and ethical value, and think about and face various professional designs from the overall interests of human society and scientific design concepts. It tries to cultivate students' awareness of design culture, and the issues to be considered must be about the relationship between man and nature, man and things, and man and society. The comprehensive design research will lead the theme teaching method to the depth from five levels: mind, speech, painting, matter and environment.

The goal of the Department of Comprehensive Design is to cultivate comprehensive talents with broad academic vision, dynamic thinking and high theoretical accomplishment, which can integrate multiple categories and disciplines. From full-time employment-oriented talent training in the past to entrepreneurial and compound talent training; From passive acceptance of design talent training to active attack design talent training. As a scientific research institution of the college, the Department of Comprehensive Design will conduct interdisciplinary research on several other humanities and natural disciplines, thus promoting the development of new disciplines. Relying on the rich academic background and rich subject resources of the college, the Department of Comprehensive Design responds to the new problems in contemporary design culture and design education with an open attitude. Department of Art and Design

Art design department is a teaching and research unit based on design practice and focusing on art design history, planning and management research. The department is newly established according to the development plan of disciplines and the needs of talent society. Art design is also a major alongside art design, painting and sculpture.

Training goal: The teaching goal of this department is to train compound and entrepreneurial senior professionals in the fields of art design history, planning and management, appreciation and criticism.

The main courses offered are: graphic design experience and theory, spatial design experience and theory, product design experience and theory, process drawing and map recognition, computer theory and software application, brief history of Chinese and foreign cultures, design history of China and foreign countries, introduction to design science, history of China ancient craft thought, introduction to folklore, archaeology and museology of cultural relics, design psychology, design aesthetics, design criticism, design planning and management, etc.
