Who knows the origin of Houhai Wanghai Building?
Wanghai Building is next to Shizilin Bridge on Xiangbei Road. Before it was renamed, it was called the Victory Church of Our Lady. It was built by the French Catholic Church in the eighth year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty (AD l869).

1870 During the War of Resistance Against Foreign Aggression in June, the church was destroyed by Tianjin people. In l897, the French Church of God rebuilt the church. 1900 During the Boxer Rebellion, the church was burnt down for the second time, 1904 was restored for the second time. 1July, 976, Tangshan earthquake was seriously damaged, and 1983 was repaired. Wanghailou Church was listed as a national key cultural relic in 1988.

Wanghailou Church is located on the north bank of the modern Sanchahekou. Here, emperors of the Qing Dynasty visited Wanghai Tower in China, and Wanghai Temple and Chongxi Temple (formerly known as Xiang), a scenic spot in Kinmen, where emperors often paid incense.

1862, after French imperialism forcibly rented the north bank of Sanchahekou, it destroyed the original ancient buildings in China, and built the "Notre Dame lost church" (meaning "Notre Dame is cruel, celebrating the second opium peace and success") as the general church of the Tianjin parish of French Shinto. This is the origin of "Wanghailou".
