Guangxi University for Nationalities is located in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is a university jointly established by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is the first batch of key universities in the central and western regions of China, the first-class discipline construction universities in Guangxi, the "Hundred Schools Project" and the China government scholarship to receive overseas students in China.
The school was founded in 1952, and was originally the Guangxi branch of the Central University for Nationalities (now the Central University for Nationalities). 1953 was renamed Guangxi University for Nationalities, and 1958 was renamed Guangxi University for Nationalities in 2006. As of July, 2022, the school has three campuses: Xiangsihu Campus, Hu Siyuan Campus and Wuming Campus, covering an area of about 3,600 mu, with a campus construction area of 887,298 square meters.
At present, there are 24 teaching colleges, 84 undergraduate majors, 17 authorized points for master's degree in first-class discipline, 17 authorized categories for master's degree, 5 authorized points for doctoral degree in first-class discipline, 1 post-doctoral research stations and 2 post-doctoral research stations. There are 2,395 faculty members, including full-time teachers 1.530 and full-time students, with ethnic minority students accounting for more than 50% of the total number of students.
