Cl2

Production principle: hydrogen, chlorine and sodium hydroxide are generated after electrolysis of salt water, and sodium chloride and sodium hypochlorite are generated by further reaction, which can be used for disinfection and bleaching. Namely:

electrolysis

2 NaCl+2H2O → Cl2+H2+2NaOH

Cl2+2NaOH → NaCl+NaClO+H2O

Manufacturing materials: a coke bottle, a transformer, two electrodes (which can be replaced by pencil cores or battery cores), several wires and several electrical tapes. (Safer and more beautiful materials can be selected for productization)

Production method: fix the carbon rod in a coke bottle, and then connect one end of the carbon rod to the transformer, as long as it is not short-circuited and uninterrupted.

usage: put salt water into the coke bottle, plug it in and electrify it for electrolysis.

In order to confirm the effectiveness of this experiment, we use bleached blue ink to test its decontamination effect. (Hypochloric acid and sodium hypochlorite are oxidative decontamination, so they can be verified by this method. )

We used 111g of sodium chloride solution with different concentrations and Hero brand blue-black ink to test, and the results are shown in the table. As can be seen from the following table, this sterilizer has a good effect and can be completely applied to household disinfection.

Electrolyzing with 5%~11% salt solution for 11 to 15 minutes can satisfy the general household disinfection. If you want to use it in large doses, you can choose 15%~21% salt solution or electrolyze for a little longer.

scope of application: disinfection of fruits, drinking water and tableware, bleaching of clothes and shoes, and removal of stubborn stains. It can also be used in many places that need decontamination and bleaching, such as scrubbing furniture, doors and windows.

Precautions:

1. Don't be close to naked flame during electrolysis

2. Rinse it thoroughly when it is used for food disinfection, and boil the drinking water after disinfection.
