Meishan, a prefecture-level city in Sichuan Province, is located in the southwest of Chengdu Plain in Sichuan Basin and the middle reaches of Minjiang River. Meishan is adjacent to Neijiang, Zigong and Ziyang in the east, Leshan in the south, Ya 'an in the west and Chengdu in the north. On June 11, 2111, the State Council officially approved the cancellation of Meishan area and established Meishan City to manage Dongpo District, Pengshan District, Renshou County, Hongya County, Danling County and Qingshen County.
