History of Big Chicken Cigarettes

In the fall of 1942, the Shandong Military Region Logistics Department founded the Big Chicken Tobacco Factory in the village of Liujia Bianshan in Jounan County. At the beginning of its operation, the factory was small and simple, with only four employees rolling cigarettes in wooden boxes, mainly using the sale of cigarettes as a cover to collect military intelligence in enemy-occupied areas.

In the spring of 1943, the logistics department of Shandong Military Region invested more in Daji Tobacco Factory, expanding its scale rapidly and officially naming its products as "Daji" brand cigarettes.

After the surrender of Japan in the fall of 1945, the factory moved with the troops to the town of Dadian.

In the spring of 1946, the factory purchased three small cigarette rolling machines from Shanghai, with a daily output of more than 2,000 cigarettes. At that time, "Big Chicken" cigarettes were one of the cigarettes used in the Seventh National Congress of the Party.

In January 1948, the East China Bureau of the Central Government decided to transfer the cigarette industry operated by the army to the local government for unified management.

In September 1949, before the founding of the country, the provincial government approved the transfer of the brand name of "Big Chicken" cigarettes to Jinan Cigarette Factory for production.
