Perhaps because it is located in the basin, the sky in Chengdu is mostly gray, and the air quality in Chengdu is not satisfactory. Some people say that Chengdu should be called "Dust Capital". Some people say that there is so much shoe polish on the streets of Chengdu because there is too much dust in the atmosphere. A few days ago, the mayor of Chengdu shouted loudly that the air quality in Chengdu is related to the image of Chengdu. Relevant departments should do their best to improve the air quality in Chengdu. In fact, not only the government, but also ordinary citizens should pay attention to it. After all, it is closely related to our lives.
Then, let our reporter take readers to find out.
Since CCTV introduced daily air quality reports of major cities in the evening news every night, citizens have gradually paid attention to the level of air index in our city. Recently, readers have been calling this newspaper to say that the air pollution index in Chengdu is high for a while and low for a while. How are these figures measured? A lady in the east of the city even asked a good question: "Chengdu is gray all day, but one day, in the urban air pollution index released by CCTV, Chengdu is far lower than Qingdao and Guangzhou. Is the air in Chengdu fresher than the air by the sea? "
Yesterday, with questions raised by readers, the reporter walked into the automatic air quality monitoring room of Chengdu Environmental Monitoring Center Station.
According to Yang Mudan, director of the office, since 1998, with the concern of leaders at all levels, Chengdu has invested more than 3 million yuan to build an automatic air quality monitoring system. At present, the system has been at the leading level in the west. So, how do those different air pollution indexes get from this advanced monitoring system every day?
Yang said that after full scientific demonstration and with the consent of the National Environmental Monitoring Center, Chengdu Environmental Monitoring Center has set up five monitoring sub-stations in the center of Chengdu, southwest of Chengdu, north of Chengdu, east of Chengdu and northwest of Chengdu. The specific locations are the City Stadium, Caotang Gan Yuan, the Second Railway Bureau, the Steel Pipe Factory and Jinniu Dam. There are no personnel on duty in these substations, but some automatic monitoring instruments are located at a distance of 3- 15 meters from the ground, which can automatically monitor various air indicators, and the measured data are transmitted to the automatic monitoring room of Chengdu Environmental Monitoring Center Station at any time through wires. Due to the networking between Chengdu and Beijing, the automatic monitoring instruments at five monitoring points transmit the data to the monitoring room and the national environmental monitoring station through computers. Therefore, no one can change the data measured by the automatic monitor. These data are the main basis of Chengdu air quality index released by CCTV.
So why is the air pollution index in Chengdu sometimes much lower than that in some famous coastal healthy cities? Yang said that this situation does exist. She explained that although Chengdu's air quality is only at a medium level in the country, because Chengdu is located in a basin, the weather changes have brought great flexibility to the air pollution index. If some cloudy weather continues to be sunny and forms a thermosphere, the suspended solids in the basin air will not be easily blown away by the wind, and the air concentration will increase. In addition, the air pollution index in Chengdu will easily exceed 100, and the air quality is naturally poor. However, after a heavy rain, the main factors affecting the air pollution index, such as dust and sulfur dioxide, will be greatly reduced. At this time, in the case of bad coastal weather conditions, Chengdu's air pollution index is lower than that of some coastal cities, and it is normal to reach the "excellent" level.
It is understood that the environmental monitoring center monitors air quality around the clock. From noon that day 12 to noon the next day 12, the average value of all data measured by automatic monitoring instruments is the air pollution index of Chengdu that day. The scientific calculation of these indicators can not only let citizens know the air quality of the city where they live at any time, but more importantly, experts in the monitoring room will put forward good strategies to improve air quality through the study of these figures.
