The induction cooker works according to the principle of magnetic field induced current. When the induction cooker works, the coil inside will generate a magnetic field. When the iron pot (or stainless steel pot) is placed on the induction cooker, the bottom of the pot will generate alternating current (also called eddy current), which will heat the bottom of the pot.
The copper pot is not made of magnetic conductive material, and there is almost no eddy current at the bottom of the pot, so it will not heat up.
Common magnetic materials are iron, cobalt and nickel. Pots made of magnetic materials commonly used in daily life include iron pots and stainless steel pot.
