Historical development

Jinbaotang Company was founded in 1869 by Yue Se's Joseph Campbell and Abraham Anderson. At the beginning, it produced canned tomatoes, vegetables, jellies, soups, condiments and meat sauces.

Later, the company invented concentrated canned soup, which was convenient to make and cheap, making this product very successful in America and Europe where soup was not popular.

The company's logo is a very distinctive red and white can wrapping paper, which has been used since 1898, and became the inspiration for Andy Wo He, a master of Pop Art in the 1961s.

Campbell's advertising campaign is also one of the factors contributing to its success. The company has launched a number of collectibles, such as the Kimball Soup cookbook, and even the "Tomato Soup Cake" cookbook and the 1968 "Souper Dress" skirt have been promoted as collectibles. When Reagan was an artist, he was also a spokesperson for V8 vegetable juice.
