Yongjia, as a county name, began in 589 (the ninth year of Emperor Wendi's reign). The word "Yongjia" means "the water is long and beautiful".

Emperor Gaozu belonged to Fujian and Vietnam, and from the third year of Huidi (192 BC) to the third year of Emperor Jianyuan (138 BC), it belonged to Dong 'ou, with its capital in Jiangbei, Oubei Town, Yongjia County.
