Hefei, referred to as "Lu" or "He", was called Luzhou, Luyang and Hefei in ancient times. It is the capital of Anhui Province and the sub-central city of China Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration approved by the State Council. It is an important national scientific research and education base, modern manufacturing base and comprehensive transportation hub. Hefei is located in the east of China, in the middle of Anhui, between Jianghuai and Chaohu. Hefei is located in the east of China, at the western end of the Yangtze River Delta, between Jianghuai and Anhui, in the middle of Anhui Province, bordering Lu 'an in the west, Huainan in the north, Chuzhou in the northeast, Maanshan and Wuhu in the southeast, and Anqing and Tongling in the southwest. The total area of the city is 1 1445. 1 km2, which is between 30 57'-32 32' north latitude and/6 41'-kloc-0/7 east longitude.
Hefei has three landforms: hills, low hills and low plains, mainly hills, and the Jianghuai watershed runs through the whole territory from west to east. The elevation of the whole city is mostly between15 and 80m, with an average elevation of 20-40m. The terrain of the main city is inclined from northwest to southeast, and the hills are undulating; Southwest belongs to Dabie Mountain. The highest altitude is 595 meters, located in Niuwangzhai in the west.

The annual average temperature is 15.7℃, the annual average precipitation is about 1000 mm, the annual sunshine time is about 2000 hours, the annual average frost-free period is 228 days, and the average relative humidity is 77%.
Hydrological situation
The surface water system in Hefei is relatively developed, with the Jianghuai watershed as the boundary, the Huaihe River system in the north of Lingling and the Yangtze River system in Lingnan. The Huaihe River system mainly includes Dongfeihe River, Hepei River and Chihe River, while the Yangtze River system mainly includes Nanfeihe River, Paihe River, Fengle River, Hangbu River, Chuhe River, Yuxi River, Zhaohe River, Gaozhe River, Baishi Tianhe River and Xihe River. Chaohu Lake is one of the five largest freshwater lakes in China. It is 54.5 kilometers long from east to west and 2 1 km wide from north to south, with a water area of 770 square kilometers. It is called "800 Li Chaohu Lake", and the bottom of the lake is 5 meters above sea level. The amount of water varies with the height of water level. When the water level reaches14m, the water storage capacity is 6.37 billion cubic meters.
