"The eight landscapes in Xiaoxiang are difficult to describe, and you love the Qingcao Bridge in Hengyang. After the rain, on the crescent moon, the fishing songs are swaying." This is the praise of Qingcao Bridge in Qing Dynasty's Zhu Peilian's Qingquan Zayong.
At the confluence of Steamed Hunan and the left side of Shigu, Qingcao Bridge stands. It has been nearly 811 years since the bridge was built. In the 13th year of Chunxi in the Southern Song Dynasty (AD 1186), when Xue Boxuan was appointed as the magistrate of Hengzhou, he built a wooden bridge in Qingcaodu, which was the first generation of Qingcaoqiao. Beginning in the third year of the Ming Dynasty (AD 1438), it took more than four years to build a stone bridge and changed its name to Yongqiao. In the second year of Yongzheng in Qing Dynasty (AD 1724), the railing was built, and it was still called Qingcao Bridge after it was rebuilt during Qianlong period. In 1933, the north and south two holes were destroyed by the flood, and the next year it was rebuilt as a seven-hole bridge. In 1944, it was blown up by the Japanese invaders. In 1956, the Municipal People's Government rebuilt the spacious stone bridge and opened it to traffic on New Year's Day the following year. Qingcao Bridge, like a rainbow flying from north to south, is even more colorful with ships shuttling under it.
Qingcao Bridge, originally a semi-circular arch bridge with pointed piers, is of high architectural art, showing the intelligence of ancient Hengyang people. There are many shops at both ends of the bridge, which has become a bustling place for market trade. In addition, the famous scenery of Shigu attracts many tourists. There are many shops, especially hotels, so there is a poem of "a hundred wines at the bridge of grass" in the eight scenic spots. When people stand on the bridge, you will feel as if you are in a picture: "The grass is green in the curtain, and the water is heavy." "When we go back and forth, the stars on both sides of the strait will be lit up, and the snow across the river will be brushed ...".
Nowadays, Qingcao Bridge, as a scenic spot, is more enjoyable. His role is becoming more and more important. It not only connects the north and the south, but also connects the downtown area with Wanmin New Village and industrial zone in the north of the city, opens the bayonet of Hengyang to Nanyue and Hengshan, and loads all kinds of transport vehicles. It also makes Shigu Park, Zhuling Cave and Wuyi Bridge form a natural and unified tourist area, which really plays a bridge role.
