According to Baidu Encyclopedia, Gong Yuan Street in Chengdu forms a crossroads with Sanqiao North Street, Dongyu Street and Xiyu Street. Its south entrance is connected with Sanqiao North Street, and its north entrance is only about 40 meters away from the all-stone archway of "seeking tribute for the country" outside Huangchengmen. Before 1950s, it was the center of Hui food stores. Because people living near the old imperial city used to call Gong Yuan Street the "Imperial City Dam", its proper name was forgotten.
