What's the difference between septic tank and sedimentation tank?
Septic tank is a device for treating feces and filtering sediment. Its principle is that the solidified substance decomposes at the bottom of the pond, and the upper hydrate enters the pipeline and flows away, thus preventing the pipeline from being blocked and giving the solidified substance (garbage such as feces) enough time to hydrolyze. Septic tank refers to a small treatment structure that precipitates domestic sewage and anaerobically digests sludge.

Sedimentation tank is a kind of equipment to remove suspended solids from water and purify water by sedimentation. Removal of suspended solids in water by natural precipitation or coagulation precipitation of water. Sedimentation tanks are divided into horizontal sedimentation tanks and vertical sedimentation tanks according to the direction of water flow. The sedimentation effect depends on the flow rate of water in the sedimentation tank and the residence time of water in the tank. In order to improve the sedimentation effect and reduce the occupied area, honeycomb inclined tube countercurrent sedimentation tank, accelerated clarifier and pulse clarifier are widely used at present.

The function of septic tank:

Ensure the environmental sanitation of the living quarters and avoid the spread of domestic sewage and pollutants in the living environment.

Kill mosquitoes and fly eggs in anaerobic and corrupt working environment of septic tank.

Sludge is temporarily stored and organic sludge is anaerobically decomposed. The matured organic sludge can be used as agricultural fertilizer.

Domestic sewage pretreatment (primary treatment) precipitates impurities and hydrolyzes macromolecular organic matter into small molecular organic matter such as acid and alcohol, thus improving the subsequent sewage treatment.

The role of sedimentation tank:

Sedimentation tank is generally a structure that separates mud from water before or after biochemical treatment, and is mostly used to separate sludge with fine particles. Before biochemistry, it was called the primary sedimentation tank, which has more inorganic components and lower water content than the sludge in the secondary sedimentation tank. The sedimentation tank located after biochemistry is generally called secondary sedimentation tank, which is mostly organic sludge with high water content.
