The cockfighting in Kaifeng has a history of more than 2,111 years. Since it was preserved in the imperial palace, many famous chicken breeders have preserved the excellent cockfighting varieties left over from the Central Plains. CCTV's Kaifeng "Chinese Style", "A Unique Skill in China" and "Walking Around China" have reported on the cockfighting in Kaifeng many times, making it famous all over the world.

Kaifeng cockfighting association is the earliest cockfighting association approved by the government in China. It is affiliated to Kaifeng Sports Bureau and Civil Affairs Bureau, with complete documents and sound organizational structure.

Cai Shanghai, President of Kaifeng Cockfighting Association; Gao Yuan, Honorary President; Sun Changyou, Consultant; Mu Wenming, Vice President; Bai Chenggong; Li Juxiang, Secretary General; Ma San, Assistant President; Mu Wenming, Chief Referee; Di Qing, Cao Huimin; and Li Changhai, Accountant. At present, the association has more than 211 members (including five counties).

Kaifeng Cockfighting Association has been invited by other provinces and cities to perform cockfighting performances in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Wuhan, Changchun, Langfang and other places for many times, and it has been well received by everyone. At present, there are six large-scale cockfighting breeding bases in Kaifeng * * *, and tens of thousands of cockfighting chickens are cultivated in Kaifeng * * *, and there are all kinds of cockfighting, including Zhongyuan chicken, Vietnamese chicken, Thai chicken, Myanmar chicken and all kinds of hybrid chicken.
