Recently, the State Administration of Market Supervision issued the newly revised Code of Practice for Food Safety in Catering Services (hereinafter referred to as the Code). The Code covers standards and basic norms for various aspects of food service such as food service establishments, food handling, cleaning operations, cleaning of catering utensils and delivery of takeaways, etc. It aims to guide food service providers to implement the main responsibility for food safety in accordance with the requirements of food safety laws, regulations, rules and normative documents, standardize catering business practices, enhance food safety management capabilities, and ensure catering food safety. The Code came into force on October 1st. The Code applies to food service providers, including food service operators and unit canteens and other main food service operations. Encourage and support food service providers to adopt advanced food safety management methods, establish food service food safety management system, improve the level of food safety management; express information on the main ingredients of the meal, the number or weight, to carry out the "oil, salt, sugar" action to provide consumers with healthy and nutritious meals; reduce the use of disposable food utensils; remind consumers to use disposable food utensils. Reduce the use of disposable food and beverage utensils; prompt consumers to carry out CD-ROM action to reduce waste. The Code stipulates that catering takeaway delivery personnel should maintain personal hygiene. Takeaway boxes (bags) should be kept clean and sterilized regularly. Network food service third-party platform providers and self-built website food service providers should truthfully record the order information of network ordering, including the name of the food, the time of ordering, delivery personnel, delivery time and delivery address, the information retention time shall not be less than six months. In order to guide food service providers to regulate business behavior, implement food safety laws, regulations, rules and normative documents, fulfill the main responsibility for food safety, improve food safety management capacity, and ensure food safety in catering, the General Administration of Market Supervision revised the "Code of Practice for Food Safety in Catering Services", which is hereby issued and shall come into force from October 1, 2018 onwards.
