Cholera is an acute intestinal infectious disease with the characteristics of acute onset, rapid spread and wide spread. It is one of the Class A infectious diseases stipulated in the Law on the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases in China and one of the quarantine infectious diseases stipulated in the International Health and Quarantine Regulations. The epidemic peak of cholera is from June to September every year. After entering the intestine, Vibrio cholerae passes through the mucus layer through lively flagella movement, adheres to the microvilli of intestinal epithelial cells, and reproduces and secretes cholera enterotoxin in large quantities, resulting in bacteria secreting a large amount of water into the intestine, which exceeds the absorption capacity of the intestine and produces a large number of watery stools. The incubation period of cholera is several hours to 5 days, usually 2 to 3 days. Some patients show asymptomatic or mild diarrhea after infection. The typical symptoms of cholera are severe painless watery diarrhea and vomiting, and the feces are yellow watery or "rice swill", which can cause dehydration and even death in severe cases.

In order to prevent and reduce the occurrence of intestinal infectious diseases, experts from Quanzhou CDC warmly suggested that to prevent cholera, it is necessary to "close the entrance" and prevent the disease from entering the mouth, and earnestly achieve "five wants and five don't". Five essentials: wash your hands before and after meals, cook the seafood you buy back, heat the food every other meal thoroughly, separate raw and cooked food, and see a doctor if symptoms appear. Five don't: don't drink raw water, don't patronize unlicensed restaurants, don't eat rotten food, overeating is not desirable, and don't touch unsterilized (cholera-contaminated) items.

At the same time, the docking Wuchang District Party Committee and the district government set up an emergency response leading group, the school set up a special class for public health emergency response, and all relevant departments actively cooperated with the territory to do a good job in the disposal.
