The town began to develop tourism in 1995. During this period, Nanjing Planning and Design Institute was entrusted to make the "Master Plan of Meizizhou Tourism Resort" for our town, and relevant leaders, experts and scholars were invited to our town for investigation. It was agreed that it was highly feasible and promising for our town to rely on the advantages of agricultural resources to develop sightseeing tourism.

In 1998, this town was identified as a demonstration base for urban agricultural development by the Nanjing Municipal Government. Considering the orderly, scientific and standard development of tourism projects, the government commissioned Becar Company to start a comprehensive tourism development plan for our town in the second half of the year, and this work is still in progress.

This year, the tourism work in this town started earlier. In the spring, students' farming activities were launched for students' spring outing, and the "May Day Golden Week" also held a farm trip. In July, under the sponsorship of Nanjing Tourism Bureau and Yuhuatai District Government, the third Jiang Xinzhou Grape Festival was grandly opened, which attracted more than 261,111 people to visit the island for more than a month. The town is developing agricultural tourism, and many scenic spots are built with farmers' investment. Therefore, the contact between tourists and farmers is inevitable in the whole tourism activity, and it is very important to handle the contradiction between farmers and tourists. When the tourism in our town has developed to a certain scale, we should correctly guide farmers' values in time, break through the limitations of small-scale peasant economy, strengthen education in ideological and moral quality, laws and regulations, environmental sanitation and other aspects, gradually guide farmers to establish a healthy and civilized lifestyle, create a comfortable rural environment for tourists, and provide well-trained primary reception services.
