The National Games is generally known as the National Games of the People's Republic of China (PRC), or "National Games" for short. The National Games is China's highest level of domestic, the largest comprehensive games. The National Games competition program in addition to martial arts and the Olympic Games, the original intention is to exercise for the country's Olympic strategy for new people, selecting talent. The Games are held once every four years, usually around the Olympic Games year. The first nine National Games were organized by Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong on a rotating basis.

The 14th National Games were held in Shaanxi Province from Sept. 15 to Sept. 27, 2021.On Aug. 12, the General Office of the State General Administration of Sports (SGAS) news postponed the holding of the 14th National Games for mass events .

August 26, 2021, the Chinese government network news, the General Office of the State Council issued a letter on the consent of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao to host the 15th National Games in 2025 .
