The History of Yining City in Xinjiang
Yining City is known as "South of the Great Wall", "Flower City" and "Yangshucheng". It is a warm green island in the hinterland of Central Asia, with beautiful scenery and rich folk customs. Yining City was built in the Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty (1762), and Qianlong was named Ningyuan City, which means peace in the distance. Heather District is the old city of Yining City, located in the south of the city. Generally, there are three or four rooms in a building with a porch in front of it. Its unique double doors, window sills, verandahs and wooden columns are decorated with wood carvings with classical shapes and rich ethnic customs. These old houses (monasteries) are hidden in the tree-lined downtown alleys, adding many precious cultural landscapes to the city.
