Jilin Province, abbreviated as "Ji", is located in the center of Northeast China. Since the pre-Qin Dynasty, Jilin has been under the administrative jurisdiction of successive central governments. During the Han Dynasty, counties were set up, and in the Tang Dynasty, Bohai and later Liao, Jin and Yuan Dynasties, prefectures, states and counties were established. In the Ming Dynasty, capitals and guardhouses were set up.
A.D. 1653 (Qing Shunzhi ten years), the Qing government set up Ningguta Angbang Zhangjing, is the beginning of the establishment of Jilin Province. The establishment of this establishment, is the first time in Jilin with the provincial establishment of the prototype, in the history of the development of Jilin has a milestone significance. In 1662 AD (the first year of Kangxi) was renamed General Ningguta.
A.D. 1673 (Qing Kangxi twelve years), in the shipyard (today's Jilin City) built Jilin City, known as "Jilin Wula" (Manchu translation of the meaning of "along the river"), Jilin thus named. In 1676 AD, General Ningguta moved to Jilin City. In 1757 AD, General Ningguta was renamed General Jilin. Since then, the name "Jilin" was expanded from the original name of the city to the name of the administrative region. In 1907 (the thirty-third year of the Qing Dynasty), Jilin Province was formally established.
In May 2018, the 2018 China City Brand Evaluation (prefecture-level cities) Top 100 list was released, and Jilin City, Jilin Province ranked 53rd.
