What is EU Organic Certification?
EU organic certification is the EU member states to develop organic product standards certification, June 24, 1991 the EU introduced the Organic Agriculture Regulation (EEC? NO.2092/91) and its amendments. In 2007, the EU repealed EEC NO.2092/91, the current effective EU organic regulations are: (EC) No 834/2007 and (EC) No 889/2008.

On June 14, 2018, the European Commission issued (EU) 2018/848, the new organic products and organic products labeling regulations, will be January 2021, will be implemented on January 1, at which time the (EU) No. 2092/91 and its amendments were issued. 1, at which time (EC) No 834/2007 will be repealed.

Introduction to SRS EU Organic Equivalence Standards

The EU regulations (EC) 834/07 and (EC) 889/08 were basically developed for the EU countries. The technical issues are largely based on the experience of EU countries and many of the procedures are applicable only in the EU, whereas such procedures can be handled differently when used in third countries*. As the SRS is certified in third countries on the basis of (EC) 834/07 and (EC) 889/08 and needs to be applied to countries and regions outside the EU, for this reason we have developed the SRS EU Organic Equivalent Standard on the basis of Clauses 32 and 33 of (EC) 834/07, which sets out and clarifies the rules and procedures for the implementation of the EU organic certification in third countries.

*Third country: a country which is not a Member State of the European Union and which is not currently listed in the 'List of third countries' annexed to Regulation 94/92

The SRS EU Organic Equivalence Standard applies to

The following operators involved in the production, processing, marketing and export of products of agricultural origin which have been placed on or are intended to be placed on the market of the European Union. Operators involved in activities including:

a. Live or unprocessed agricultural products

b. Processed agricultural products to be used for food purposes

c. Feeds

d. Plant propagation material and seeds

Note: Catering operations that apply to the public sector are excluded from the scope of the standard

The objectives of the production are : to establish a sustainable management system in agriculture; to respect the natural systems and cycles, to maintain and improve the health of the soil, the water, the plants and the animals, and to maintain the balance between them.

Principles : Rationally designed management of biological processes on the basis of ecosystems, utilizing the natural resources of the internal system, using:

- Use of living organisms and mechanical methods;

- Terrestrial plant cultivation, livestock and poultry production, or aquaculture production based on the development of sustainable development of aquaculture;

- Rejection of the use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs), except for Rejection of the use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and products derived from or produced with GMOs, with the exception of veterinary medicines.
