The exhibition area of the 417 site has increased dozens of times.
Since the Canton Fair was founded, the demand for booths has been strong, and the scale of the exhibition hall has been expanding. After four relocations, the building area of the exhibition hall has grown from 654.38+0.8 million square meters at the initial stage of building to over 654.38+0.654.38+0 million square meters now.
The central hall, dome and circular exhibition trail with a height of more than 20 meters ... 1-2 Canton Fair was held. Today, more than 60 years later, the atmospheric design of Sino-Soviet Friendship Building with exotic architectural style is still shocking. According to the original design, it can accommodate 30,000 visitors every day, with a building area of 1.8 million square meters and an exhibition area of 9,600 square meters.
Then, due to the rapid development of the Canton Fair, the exhibition hall could not meet the needs of merchants, and the Canton Fair began a "moving trip". On April 5th, 1958, the third Canton Fair moved to the newly-built China Export Commodities Exhibition Hall at No.2 Qiaoguang Road, with an area of13000m2. Soon after, the Canton Fair moved for the second time.
1 959 1 65438+1October1,and the 6th Canton Fair was moved to Qiyi Road1exhibition hall near Haizhu Square. The newly-built exhibition hall covers an area of 34,500 square meters, which is 2.65 times that of Qiaoguang Road.
After more than ten years' development, the Canton Fair was moved from Haizhu Square to Liu Hua Road Exhibition Hall in 1974, which was the third "move". The nine characters of "China Export Commodities Fair" hanging on the front of the main building of the exhibition hall were written by Guo Moruo himself. The 35th-103 Canton Fair was held here (the 94th-103 was held simultaneously with Pazhou Exhibition Hall). In 1980s, the exhibition hall, Oriental Hotel, Liu Hua Hotel, Friendship Theatre and other adjacent buildings were selected as one of the "Eight Scenes of Yangcheng" and enjoyed the reputation of "Liu Hua Yu Yu".
While the exhibition hall area is getting bigger and bigger, its function is also developing to the modern exhibition hall. In September 2008, 104 Canton Fair was moved to Pazhou Exhibition Hall as a whole. Located on the south bank of the Pearl River in Guangzhou, the newly-built Canton Fair Exhibition Hall is a modern exhibition hall with the most advanced facilities and complete functions in Asia. This is the fourth time that the Canton Fair has "moved".
At the end of last year, the fourth phase of the Canton Fair Pavilion was officially started. After the completion of the fourth phase of the project, the total construction area of the Canton Fair Exhibition Hall will reach 6,543,800+0,680 square meters, the total exhibition area will reach 620,000 square meters (including indoor exhibition area of 504,000 square meters and outdoor exhibition area of 6,543,800+0,650 square meters), and the conference area will reach 50,000 square meters, making it the largest exhibition complex in the world.
The old exhibition hall "Butterfly Change" is a commercial wholesale complex and a city life center.
The old exhibition hall did not "retire" after completing its historical mission, but continued to shine in another way.
The first floor of China Export Commodities Exhibition Hall, No.2 Qiaoguang Road, where the 3rd-5th Canton Fair was held, was transformed into a seafood hall. China Export Commodities Exhibition Hall 1, which hosted the 6th-34th Canton Fair, and Liu Hua Road Exhibition Hall, which hosted the 30th-103rd Canton Fair, were transformed into commercial wholesale complexes and urban life centers respectively.
The exhibition hall of Yiqing Road (now Haiyin Binbin Square), which held the Canton Fair 10 years, still retains the traces of the Canton Fair. The building is located in the northwest to the southeast, with the middle building 10 floor high and 8 floors in the west and north wings. It is a model of the few existing Soviet-style buildings in Guangzhou.
The reporter found that Liu Hua Center in Guangzhou, once rated as one of the "Eight Scenes of Yangcheng", followed the development of the times and has already "transformed" into Liu Hua Exhibition and Trade Center in Guangzhou, becoming a city life center integrating small-scale professional exhibitions, fashion life and other functions, and becoming a new business card and fashion consumption exhibition gathering area for the integration of business and culture in western Guangzhou.

Next to Haizhu Bridge, Liuhua Lake and Pazhou Tower, the exhibition hall is like a milestone, recording the glorious course of the Canton Fair. Every relocation of the Canton Fair will drive the surrounding economic development. Therefore, it can be said that the changing history of the Canton Fair Pavilion records the prosperity and prosperity of Guangzhou.
"Looking at the many changes in the old site of the Canton Fair, the Liuhuahu Pavilion is typical." Yuan Qifeng, a professor at the School of Architecture of South China University of Technology, told Guangzhou Daily that Guangzhou Railway Station was completed almost at the same time as 1974 Liu Hua Exhibition Hall, and the convenient transportation made Liu Hua a foreign transportation hub and foreign trade center of Guangzhou.
Huang Yimin has lived and worked in Guangzhou for decades. 1986, Huang Yimin entered the media, and he had the opportunity to shoot at the venue. Talking about the feelings of interviewing the Canton Fair, "Because the venue of the Liu Hua Road Fair is very large, every interview broke my leg. Later, after the Canton Fair moved to Pazhou, the exhibition was even bigger, and I couldn't run all day. It is simply' dying' (laughs). " Huang Yimin recalled.
As the "chief architect" of Pazhou West District, Sun Yimin, dean and professor of the School of Architecture of South China University of Technology, told the reporter: "In 200 1 year, Guangzhou issued the first overall strategic plan for urban development, and made it clear that the development direction was to expand from the south to the north and optimize the eastward expansion to the west. The big move to settle the Canton Fair Pavilion from the Liu Hua business district to Pazhou Island was carried out in the direction of' South Extension'. "
"The changes in the Canton Fair Pavilion can be condensed into a history of China's foreign trade products export, from primary handicrafts and primary products to manufacturing products, high-tech products and digital products." Professor Sun Bo, a Guangdong scholar who compiled China's First Exhibition: Canton Fair and vice president of the Institute of International Service Economics of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, concluded.
