Bai Xueshi (1915.6. 12-2011.4.22), male, Zhai Hao, He Xuzhai, Beijinger, studied painting since childhood, studied under Zhao Mengzhu in his early years and Liang Shunian later.
Later, he taught at Beijing Normal University and Beijing Institute of Art, and later at the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts. He is also the president of Beijing Landscape Painting Research Association. He has painted huge Chinese paintings for Zhongnanhai and the Great Hall of the People many times. He has held many art exhibitions abroad.
His landscape painters are all North School, bordering the South School, and have absorbed the essence of various paintings, including the rigor of Song painting, the lightness of Yuan painting, the beauty of watercolor painting, the purity and decorative beauty of printmaking; Among them, the green landscape painting with Guilin as the theme can best reflect and represent Bai Xueshi's painting style.

Bai Xueshi is good at painting landscapes. Whether it is Huangshan Mountain, Mount Tai or Guilin, his works are full of spirituality and vitality. He skillfully used stone lines, flowers and thick but not turbid pen and ink to set off the bright and clean artistic conception of green mountains and green waters.
His works are fresh and elegant, plain and colorful, with a wide range of themes and strong flavor of the times, especially the turquoise landscape paintings with Guilin as the theme can best reflect and represent Bai Xueshi's painting style. His unique Guilin landscape painting is called "White School Landscape".
Mr. Bai Xueshi studied landscapes and Song and Yuan Dynasties in his early years. He is deeply influenced by the landscape of the North School, and his painting style is clean and beautiful, neat and clear. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, we began to attach importance to sketching, and made up the course of going deep into nature and reflecting life. Because of the need of teaching, he often takes students to sketch in mountainous areas, which is beneficial to both teaching and learning, so that the traditional landscape planning techniques can be confirmed and supplemented in the true face of nature.
Mr. Bai Xueshi combined the simple and generalized method of traditional landscape painting with the reality and vividness of objective nature, which made endless changes and made new discoveries and creations in the process.
Since 1950s, he has been sketching in famous mountains and rivers with many famous artists such as Qin Zhongwen, Wu Jingting, Wu Guangyu, Liang Shunian, Zhang Anzhi, Chen Dayu and Song Wenzhi. Their horizons have been continuously broadened and improved, and their art has gradually matured, forming their own style.
