Marc jacobs was born in new york on September 9th, 1963. Jacobs went to art design high school when he was a child, and 198 1 graduated. During this period, he lived in Tinek, New Jersey with his mother, sister and brother. /kloc-When he was 0/5 years old, Jacobs worked as a warehouse boy in Charivari, an avant-garde clothing store in new york. That is, from there, Jacobs entered parsons the new school for design, a famous design school. During his study, Jacobs' outstanding creativity and craftsmanship have emerged. He won three important awards in 1984, namely "perry ellis Golden Thimble Award", "Chester Weinberg Golden Thimble Award" and "Design Student of the Year Award".
It was also while studying in Parsons that he successfully introduced his first hand-spun sweater series to the market. Jacobs' first fashion collection was designed for Reuben Thomas and was named Sketchbook. After studying at Parsons College, Jacobs became the vice president of women's design in perry ellis. What makes Jacobs stand out in the fashion world is his "Grunge" series designed for perry ellis (Grunge is also one of the important elements of design style after Mark). This series of events directly led Jacobs to leave perry ellis on 1993.
1984, he and his friend Robert Duffy founded Jacobs Duffy Design Company, which has continued to this day. 1986, with the support of Onward Kashiyama USA, Inc., Marc launched the "marc jacobs" clothing series named after himself. The following year, he won the highest honor in the American fashion world-the Best Design Rookie Award of the American Fashion Designers Association (CFDA), and was the youngest designer to win the award at that time.
From 65438 to 0989, Jacobs cooperated with Duffy as the vice president and president of Tristan Russo's women's dress design. 1992, American Fashion Designers Association awarded Jacobs "Best Women's Designer of the Year". 1994, he launched the first complete menswear collection.
1997, was appointed as the artistic director of LV, responsible for the design of men's and women's clothes, leather shoes and small leather goods. Since then, Mark has become a "new star" in European fashion design. Marc's clothes designed for LV are elegant and simple, but in his own brand design, Marc more embodies his own Grunge fashion design concept. The bohemian attitude he developed in his early years, the days he spent in Studio 54, a famous club in new york, his infatuation with British neo-romanticism, or his favorite rebellious fashion attitude of vivienne westwood, and so on. It's all applied to his clothing line. Now Mark has fallen in love with Paris, where he works, and has successfully integrated the power of new york with the luxurious and noble thoughts of Paris, so that marc jacobs's clothing has always maintained the aristocratic leisure style.
Most of marc jacobs's designs draw lessons from the fashion styles from the 1940s to 1980s. Therefore, designer Oscar de la renta accused Jacobs of being "actually a plagiarist", but Guy Trebay, a fashion critic in The New York Times, commented: "Unlike many fashion designers who launched their own product line with the same name, Mark never tried to create the illusion that his fashion came from his great creativity. He never tried to pretend that fashion would suddenly pop out of the mind of a great genius. " Jacobs himself explains his fashion like this: "My clothes are for girls who will never choose a dress to seduce a man into bed." "For me, curiosity about sex is far more interesting than sexual dominance. My clothes will not be very hot, never, never. "
