Gangzha District (withdrawn and merged into Chongchuan District), the former municipal jurisdiction of Nantong City, Jiangsu Province, is a fast-growing urban sub-centers; located on the north bank of the mouth of the Yangtze River, the central part of the city of Nantong; west of Jiuweigang River as a boundary, and Tongzhou District, Pingchao Town, across the river; the north with Tongzhou District, Liuqiao Town, east of Tongzhou District, Renxin; the south across the Luk Canal, which can be directly to the Chongchuan District. It has a total area of 134.23 square kilometers, with a resident population of 278,000, of which 190,400 are households.

Gangzha District is an important urban agglomeration in Nantong, integrating advanced manufacturing, modern service and emerging industries.
