—WWTP (Sewage Treatment Plant) refers to the place where sewage (wastewater) discharged from pollution sources cannot meet the requirements of discharge standards or environmental capacity due to the high total amount or concentration of pollutants, thus reducing the quality and functional objectives of water environment and requiring manual intensive treatment.

The sewage treatment process is divided into three stages: the first stage treatment: removing stones, sandstone, fat and grease contained in sewage by mechanical treatment, such as grating, sedimentation or air flotation. Secondary treatment: biological treatment, in which pollutants in sewage are degraded and converted into sludge under the action of microorganisms. Tertiary treatment: advanced treatment of sewage, including removal of nutrients and disinfection of sewage by chlorination, ultraviolet radiation or ozone technology. Perhaps according to the different treatment objectives and water quality, some sewage treatment processes do not include all the above processes.
