A, the Bund
Located in the center of Shanghai Huangpu District on the banks of the Huangpu River, is one of the most symbolic attractions of the city of Shanghai. It is 1.5 kilometers long, strolling from south to north, with the broad Zhongshan Dongshan Yi Road on the left hand side and dozens of foreign buildings of different styles lined up along the roadside.
Next to the Huangpu River, Shanghai's mother river, giant ships shuttle on the river, while on the other side of the river stand skyscrapers such as the Jin Mao Tower and the World Financial Center. At night, the neon lights on both sides of the river are blazing, making it a perfect place to stroll along the Bund with your lover and experience the flavor and romance of the "city that never sleeps".
Introduction to the Bund:
The Bund, located on the banks of the Huangpu River in the city center of Shanghai, is a scenic spot in Shanghai and a must-visit for tourists visiting the city. The Bund, also known as Zhongshan Dong Dong Yi Road, is about 1.5 kilometers long. East of the Huangpu River, west of the Gothic, Romanesque, Baroque, Chinese and Western style, such as 52 buildings of different styles, known as the "universal architectural exposition group".
The Bund, also known as Zhongshan Dong Dong Yi Road, is about 1.5 kilometers long. Located in Puxi, east of the Huangpu River, west of the Gothic, Romanesque, Baroque, Chinese and Western style, such as 52 different styles of buildings, known as "universal architectural exposition group.
The Huangpu River is the largest river flowing through the Shanghai Municipal District, and the source of the Huangpu River is located in the Longwang Mountain Nature Reserve in Anji, Zhejiang Province. As the Huangpu River is connected to the sea, it is affected by the tides, and on average, there are obvious high and low tides twice a day, and the difference in water level can be up to 4 meters or more in a day, and in case of astronomical high tides, the difference in water level will be even greater.
In a hundred and fifty years ago, Shanghai is only a medium-sized county along the coast of Jiangnan, the shipping business is very undeveloped, people do not have the need and ability to build embankments along the river, so in addition to the east gate of the Huangpu River banks outside most of the riverbanks is a natural beach. At low tide, the river stagnation in the center of the riverbed, revealing a large beach. At high tide, the river is not over the beach. Huangpu River is the main river in Shanghai. As the river is wide and the water is fast, boats traveling against the water have to pull fibers to walk. Over the centuries, the footsteps of the slender man in the Huangpu River beach stepped out of a twisting and turning path, people called the "fiber road", which is the Bund's earliest road. In the customary use of words in Shanghai's geographical names, generally called the upper reaches of the river "Li", the lower reaches of the river called "outside", such as today's Shanghai people used to Hongkou Harbor on the Hanyang Road Bridge called "Li Hongqiao ", the Changzhi Road Bridge called "in the Hongqiao", the Daimyo Road Bridge called "outside the Hongqiao", is based on the location of the river where the bridge to name.
Similarly, the Suzhou River into the mouth of the Huangpu River, the first bridge is called "outside the Baedu Bridge", in order to the bridge is also commonly known as "Li Baedu Bridge" (today's Zhapu Road Bridge), the three Baedu Bridge (today's Sichuan Road Bridge). If the county based on the city, from the city near the place known as "Li", from the city far away from the place known as "outside", today's southern city of "Li Xiangua Street" and "outside Xiangua Street". Outside the street"; "Li Cangqiao" and "outside the Cangqiao" and so on is the name of this.
The Huangpu River, which enters the neighborhood of Shanghai County, forms a sharp bend at the exit of Lujiabang, so the Shanghainese people take Lujiabang as the boundary, and its upper reaches are called "Lihuangpu", and the lower reaches are called "Waihuangpu". The river bank of Li Huangpu is called "Li Huangpu Beach", or "Li Beach" for short, while the beach of Wai Huangpu is called "Wai Huangpu Beach", or "Bund" for short. "
These are the first time I've ever seen a woman in the world.
The Bund is located along the Huangpu River in Shanghai. It represents the landscape of Shanghai and is a must-visit tourist destination in Shanghai. In the late 19th century, many foreign banks were established on the Bund, which was known as Shanghai's "Financial Street" or "Oriental Wall Street". As a result, the Bund became a place where financial investment was encouraged. Due to the historical value of the Bund, owning a piece of land on the Bund is not only a sign of wealth, but also a sign of honor.
The section of Huangpu Bund from Baedu Bridge to Jinling East Road is customarily known as the "Bund" because it is located on the Pudan, which is outside the city of Shanghai. It is the original outline of the city of Shanghai, once known as Huangpu Road, Yangzi Road, Huangpu Beach Road, renamed Zhongshan Dongyi Road in 1945. The Bund was originally a deserted shoal, along which there was a narrow dirt road for boatmen to walk while pulling fiber. The west side of the beach was farmland, with thatched cottages scattered between the paths and ditches. Qing Daoguang twenty-three years (1843) before the British imperialism in Shanghai to open up a lease, first delineated the Bund around the river as its ships "anchorage". 1845, November 29, through the "Shanghai Land Charter" to the west of the Bund of 830 acres of land for the British Concession. Thereafter, the colonial authorities built the British Consulate at Lijiazhuang (also known as Lijiachang, today's section of Yuanmingyuan Road southwest of East Beijing Road near the Bund) (today's location of the Shanghai branch of the China Travel Service at No. 33 on the Bund). Soon, the British Consulate along the south side of the Huangpu River line, appeared one after another Sassoon foreign firms, Yanji foreign firms, Bao Cheng foreign firms, Qi Chang foreign firms, Tianchang foreign firms and other foreign firms. In 1848, the Slender Road near the Huangpu River was transformed into an 18-meter wide road, and on the east side of the road, wharves, stacks, banks and shipyards were constructed. 1854-1941, more than ten foreign and Chinese banks appeared in the Bund, which became the financial center of Shanghai, and it was known as "Wall Street of the Orient". Houses on the Bund started out as two- and three-story buildings.
Since this century, due to the development of building technology and economic strength of the growth, the emergence of multi-storey and high-rise, in a variety of styles, such as British Classical, British neo-classical, British Renaissance-style Asia Building (the former Metallurgical Design Institute of Shanghai), the General Assembly of Shanghai (now the Dongfeng Hotel], the HSBC Building (the former Shanghai Municipal People's Government Building), and Chia and the building (today's Bureau of Foreign Trade Building), etc., French classical, French Grand Residence style, and the Bund, the Bund, the Bund and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government Building (today's Bureau of Foreign Trade Building). Classical style, French large residential style, Gothic, Baroque, modern Western style, East Indian style, eclectic style, Chinese and Western mixed style, etc., known as the "universal architectural exposition". It starts from Waibaidu Bridge at the mouth of Suzhou Creek in the north and ends at Jinling East Road in the south, with a total length of about 1,700 meters. Whether you are looking at it from afar or wandering through it, you can feel a kind of robustness, majesty, grace, and noble momentum.
Most of the buildings on the Bund that we see now have been remodeled, but the basic style remains the same, and in 1992, before the National Day, the Bund Comprehensive Renovation of the first phase of the project was completed. Now the Bund flood control wall is a box gallery type, 6.9 meters high, 15.4 meters wide, can withstand the tide of a thousand years. More than 300 cars can be parked in the box, the box surface is green attractions and walking along the river. Road widened twice as much as before, there are 8 fast 2 slow 10 lanes, the Bund has always been Shanghai's tourist hot spots, in addition to viewing the rare Chinese and foreign "universal architectural exposition", you can also appreciate the Wai Baedu Bridge and the Wusong Road gate bridge of the richness of the Park, Huangpu Park's handsome, the design of the flood control wall of craftsmanship, as well as the building and the river reflecting the scenic beauty. The night tour of Pujiang River is even more interesting. In addition, this place has developed transportation, convenient shopping, rich history, tourism facilities, make people forget to come back.
The Bund is the most famous landscape of this oriental metropolis, which starts from Zhongshan Yi Road in the east, Waibaidu Bridge in the north, and Jinling East Road in the south, facing the open mother river - Huangpu River, and leaning on the back of the rigorous modeling and style of the architectural complex. Due to its unique geographical location and its influence on Shanghai and even China in the field of economic activities in the past hundred years, it has a very rich cultural connotation. Outside, the river bank, the Changti, the green belt and the streetscape of beautiful buildings are the most characteristic features of the Shanghai landscape.
The Bund was once the political, economic, commercial and cultural center of the Western powers in Shanghai. Most of the consulates of different countries were concentrated here, and the Bund was also the base camp of international financial capital in China. In addition, there was the Shanghai General Association, a high-class club for big Western merchants, and the building of the British merchant Asia Fire Oil Company.
