From the picture As you can see, the attractions in Zaxi are more spread out than those in Dongjia, because the Zaxi scenic area is made up of 12 small islands, each with some attractions.
Tips:
The East Gate is very small, just on both sides of the river. You can see it by walking clockwise or counterclockwise. Half of the attractions on the Zhaxi route are on Zhaxi Street, which you can see by walking along it.
Itinerary Tips
So here's a brief rundown of what Bian Xiao did based on his previous trip to Wuzhen for your reference. The east gate of Wuzhen is a straight line and the west gate is a loop. You can walk along the line and basically won't miss any attractions!
Day1
Zhaoming Academy
We stayed in the Zhaoming standard room right next to the Zhaoming Academy. Located in the scenic area, Zhaoming Academy is the place where King Ming of Liang Dynasty studied in Wuzhen. The old Ming Dynasty pagoda where Prince Liang Zhaoming and Shen Shangshu studied, titled "Successful Sites of the Six Dynasties", is the landmark of Zhaoming Academy, and ordinary tourists will inevitably have to take photos here.
There are ponds and old trees around the pagoda, so you can take a break, or go to the nearby exhibition hall to see the ancient plaques of the past generations, as well as the Mao Dun Literature Prize winners and past winners of the exhibition.
Ding Bridge
The bridge below is called Ding Sheng Bridge, connecting Lingshui Residence and Zhaoming Academy. According to legend, during the Southern Song Dynasty, Lu Dongbin, a man of the Eight Immortals, sold glutinous rice cakes on this bridge. The big cake had three fillings and the small cake had three fillings. So, many people paid money for the big cake. A Xiu Cai went to Beijing to take an exam and bought a small cake with threepence.
Legend has it that a Xiu Cai, who went to Beijing to take his exams, met a strange man selling glutinous rice cakes on this bridge. These cakes had no filling and were half-baked, so he paid threepence for a cupcake. The passers-by laughed at the scholar's stupidity, but the scholar was not amused: there is a reason why foreign things are different.
The cake seller immediately sent him 10 words: it is not strange to have a cake, the cake is born today. Sure enough, soon the scholar won the first place in the examination, this bridge is also known as Ding Sheng Bridge. It turned out that the strange man was the great immortal Lu Dongbin.
Marshal Du Wen
Legend has it that in ancient times a scholar found two plague ghosts throwing plague worms into a well. To warn the villagers, the scholar jumped into the well. The illiterate villagers finally realized there was poison in the well. The Jade Emperor named him Marshal Du Wen and the villagers built a temple to honor him.
Lingshuiju
Lingshuiju is the largest scenic garden attraction in Zhaxi. Mao Dun Memorial Hall and Mausoleum are on the east side of Lingshui Residence. There are also Wang, Kong Lingjing and Shen Zemin. Their memorials are also located in the Lingshui public house.
We two silly ghosts only stayed at the entrance for a short while and forgot to go to the garden inside. Do we have to miss some attractions every time we travel?
Nagano Place
The architecture of Nagano Place is very unique. All the pillars are carved out of stone, locally known as stone foot houses. This was to prevent the sparks that flew around during smelting from igniting the wood and creating a fire hazard.
There is a cauldron placed in the patio, which is known
Shen Jia's exquisite smelting technology has been preserved to this day. The raw iron pot is rich in iron that can be easily absorbed by the body and reduces the loss of vitamins in vegetable cooking, but it has always been praised. Now the store mainly sells iron pots and various handicrafts.
Xu Jiangyuan
Built in the ninth year of the Qing Dynasty's reign of Xianfeng, it was the earliest sauce garden in Wuzhen, with a store in front and a store in the back, mainly dealing with bean paste, soy sauce and pickles. The sauces are traditionally hand-brewed with high-quality soybeans, fava beans, wheat and other raw materials, made with bamboo plaques, and after half a year of natural exposure to the sun and fermentation, the sauces are very popular among the locals.
Yuan Hong Thai Hao, grass and trees natural color dyeing workshop
Thai Dyeing House is a dyeing workshop created in the Song and Yuan Dynasties. Next to the vegetation is a natural color dye house with rich color baking. It is extracted from local plant materials such as tea leaves, mulberry bark and sapium leaves. For this reason, this dye house is known locally as the Vegetation's Natural Color Dye House.
Blue printed fabrics are tanned on high shelves and solid-colored fabrics on low shelves. It's really not easy to take a pretty picture under the fluttering fabric, so why not take dyed fabric, as long as you're pretty.
Mu Art Museum
Mu Xin is a contemporary Chinese literary master and painter, regarded as an elite and legendary figure who y understands traditional Chinese culture in Taiwan area and New York Chinese circle. He is the author of numerous books and was born in 1927 in Dongjie, Wuzhen, Tongxiang, Zhejiang Province. His real name is Sun Park, and his pen name is Yang Zhong, a native of Muxin. Graduated from the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts. settled in New York in 1982. He died at 3:00 on December 21, 2011 at the age of 84 in his hometown of Wuzhen.
The Mu Xin Art Museum is dedicated to honoring and showcasing Mu Xin's life's work and aesthetic legacy. It is not just an art museum that collects the past tense, but also a spiritual point and academic space for the future. It provides a complete documentation for the study of Muhsin.
The Mukhin Museum was crafted by I.M. Pei's team, who specializes in creating architectural beauty with light. In terms of the Six Dynasties Museum and Muhin Art Museum in Nanjing, which have already been visited, it does vividly embody the famous quote of letting light design, which makes the whole museum full of vitality. Instead of visiting an art museum, it is a great opportunity to appreciate Bayesian architecture.
Tips:
While the Mushin Art Museum is located in Wuzhen, you have to buy a separate ticket for 15 RMB per person.
Moonlight spills over the West Gate.
If Ximen has a high face value during the day, it is simply super high at night, with a face value of X10086.When the lanterns come on, Zaxi adds a unique atmosphere. Staying in Zhaxi at night, going to Zhaxi at night is necessary. When the night falls, the lights of the riverside buildings glitter on the calm river, beautiful as a painting of the landscape. It is a different kind of beauty compared to the quiet and cozy beauty of the south China water town during the day. Zhaxi also has a bar street for night owls, a great place to relax.
Day2
Dragonfield
From a high point, the farmland here is a dragon, hence the name Dragonfield. In summer, patches of sunflowers are in full bloom, a spectacular scene. On a sunny day, sit on a swing and sunbathe freely. To the north are the Nagasakamo Bridge and the waterwheel.
The Temple of the Moon Lord
As the name suggests, the Temple of the Moon Lord is, of course, here to get married! The trees outside the temple are covered with red cards. I remember asking for an autograph for my CP here 4 years ago. Times have changed. Although men are not married, women are already married. Here's wishing all CPs a happy marriage.
Wang Jinli
In fact, Wang Jinli area refers to the neighborhood of Wang Jinli Boutique Hotel. Because it is located in the western part of Zhaxi, tourists seldom go there. The appearance is quite good. There is a fountain at the entrance. If you have enough budget and want to go higher, you can consider staying there.
Lotus Tower overlooking the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal.
Wuzhen is known as "one view, two towers, nine temples and thirteen nunneries". One view refers to the scenery of the East Gate, and one of the two towers is the An Baoli Pagoda Temple. Lotus Tower formerly known as the Golden Lotus Tower, built in the Northern Song Dynasty during the Chongning (1102-1106). Checked the information to know the original White Lotus Pagoda was rebuilt in 2005.
The original White Lotus Pagoda, seven stories high and sixteen feet high, was destroyed in the war between Zhu Yuanzhang and Zhang Shicheng in Wuzhen
Climbing the White Lotus Pagoda is all about enjoying the scenery of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. Although Yang Di was seen as an antagonist in the eyes of later generations, his excavation of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal did promote the economic development of the north and south.
The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal is the world's longest and largest ancient canal, and is one of the three major projects of ancient China, along with the Great Wall and the Canal. Climbing the White Lotus Pagoda is free, but staff will control the number of climbers to avoid crowding at the pagoda.
Wenchang Pavilion
Built in the 10th year of the Tongzhi era of the Qing Dynasty, the pavilion was specially constructed by Yan Chen for the dedication of the Qunxing, who presided over the literary and physical family, hence the name Wenchang Pavilion. Changge is dedicated to Emperor Wenchang, the god of merit and status on earth. In the past, students came to worship it whenever they passed their science exams to enter higher education for academic and professional success.
Another scholar will come by boat to study at Wenchang Pavilion. The boat docked at the pier and the scholar went upstairs, where servants sat on benches on either side of the downstairs aisle and waited.
Guandi Temple
The Guandi Temple is home to a majestic bronze statue of Guanwu Da Di. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, commerce in Wuzhen was very prosperous and many wealthy merchants gathered in the town. In addition, Wuzhen was the junction of two provinces and three capitals, and trade was very frequent. Many merchants would pass through Wuzhen to do business.
The Guan Di Temple is located at the crossroads of land and water, so although Wuzhen doesn't have much direct connection with Guan Gong, the incense at the Guan Di Temple in Zhaxi is very popular, and pilgrims keep coming.
Esihao
Yisi was founded in the early years of Guangxu (1875). The workshop fully demonstrates the process of raising silkworms, collecting cocoons, reeling silk and weaving brocade, and you can also see the entire reeling process in real people.
Wuzhen Post Office
Not easy. Finally came to Wuzhen post office. Wuzhen in the Tang Dynasty was a very developed town with the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal running through it. Wuzhen Post Office has a long history. In the Yuan Dynasty, there were official horse post and Shuiyi, mostly set up in Wuzhen Mirror, that is, official documents were transported by boat, and there was a fixed boatman in the post to transport the official documents.
Wuzhen River is a tributary of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, and the Wuzhen Post Office is located on the Xishi River. The Wuzhen post office is still in business today. If you are interested, send a letter to your relatives or friends in the mailbox at the entrance.
Wuzhen Grand Theater
Wuzhen Grand Theater, adjacent to the Mushin Art Museum, consists of two ovals of different sizes superimposed on each other. The architectural concept of the "Ice Land Company" is auspicious and festive.
The theater of Wuzhen Grand Theater is a large-scale social and cultural facility integrating drama, concert performances, exhibitions, cultural and artistic exchanges, and also serves as an auxiliary function for rehearsals, meetings, research and other cultural activities. All the instruments and equipment are of international standard. I think Wuzhen is worth seeing the Wuzhen Theater Festival again.
Dongza
We stayed for 1.5 hours to visit Dongjia. On the east side, there is the Mu Xin Residence Memorial Hall, the Jiangnan Hundred Beds Hall, the Folk Museum, the Wood Carving Official, and Mao Dun's Former Residence. The Mu's Residence Memorial Hall has to be booked a day in advance without any announcement. Who do you want to show it to? The other attractions have zero visibility.
Wuzhen Dining
Wuzhen's dining is also pretty 'awesome'. Why? Because every house has the same menu, the same price, open and transparent, and everyone can make money together. We ate three meals, tasted their hand-torn cabbage, whitewater fish, tomato scrambled eggs, eggplant end, etc.. It was 40-50 per person per meal. not bad. The white water fish is recommended.
Here's the crack wall recommended 'auntie cake', cheap and delicious. We are in the Dongjia scenic area in front of the store to buy. Here's a picture from the official website to put it together. One dollar a bag, a bag has four dollars.
Da Ma Cake from Wuzhen, Tongxiang, Zhejiang province, is a traditional Han Chinese specialty, famous for Hangjiahu. Slightly bigger than a chess piece, they are oily but not greasy, crispy but not falling apart, fragrant but glutinous, sweet but salty. When people hear the name, they always think the cake is made by my aunt. But on the contrary, it turned out to be
Since we decided to go to Wuzhen on the spur of the moment and it was the New Year's Day holiday, we had to book a room on the official website four days in advance. 400 yuan for a B&B was booked long ago. All homestays include breakfast. Check what you want to eat on the list the day before and the owner will make it for you when you wake up the next day. So thoughtful.
The amount of breakfast was also horrible. One hot drink (milk or soy milk or tea or coffee), one snack (toast or bacon fritters), one main (black sesame dumplings or three shredded noodles), and congee, pumpkin porridge, bok choy, yams, sweet potatoes, peanuts, and curd are all free from the buffet. You can eat until you're up against the wall.
Tips:
If you are staying in Wuzhen, you have to give an entrance ticket, but you can get a temporary pass and you can only enter and exit once. West gate ticket 120 east gate 100 combined ticket 150. the east gate is too commercial, not much different from Shanghai's Zhujiajiao and Shaojialou ancient towns. Do you think the 100 yuan ticket is worth it?
Wuzhen accommodation
There are two ways to get to the west gate: by land and by water.
Most tourists will choose to enter the scenic area by water, which means taking a boat. We wanted to stay at BB early and we were lugging a big luggage, so the staff suggested us to take the battery car. If you are not in a hurry, you can give your luggage to the staff. They will deliver it to your accommodation at 11:30 sharp. The battery car is equipped with windshield and will not freeze while traveling.
When you arrive at the station, you don't have to do it yourself. The staff will take the initiative to open the windshield for you and pick you up. It is treated like an emperor. So no matter which mode of transportation you choose to enter the scenic area, it is very convenient. When you check out, give your bags to your boss. When you return to the visitor service center at the end of your trip, your luggage will be waiting for you quietly. Wuzhen really has nothing to say in terms of service.
How to enter Xijie
It's actually the main street of Wuzhen outside the scenic area, so you don't have to worry too much about safety. There are a lot of stores and hotels that you can choose for yourself. And it is more convenient to eat and buy daily necessities outside the scenic area. And the price of accommodation is much cheaper than the scenic area, and the environment is also good. Because we are student party and lack of funds, so we choose to stay outside the scenic spot.
Outside the scenic area
Dongjie BB is privately owned, and the environmental facilities mentioned earlier are different. But one advantage of staying in the scenic area is that your ticket can be used for two days. After the first day of play and return to the accommodation, the next day directly in the scenic area where you stay to play. Zhaxi BB is a unified management of the attractions, so the environment is good, the price is high.
Inside the scenic area
If you are basically in the scenic area, the B&B where you stay will provide meals. You can order it, and the price is not expensive. At the same time, you can walk into a B&B at any time during the tour and order a meal.
In addition to this, Wuzhen scenic area has a variety of special restaurants, and there are snacks along the street. In short, you can not be hungry. The famous snacks there are: three hundred wine, Wuzhen mutton, stinky tofu, white water fish, duck in Wuzhen sauce, Ding Sheng cake and so on.
Food Recommendations
Scenic Area Charges
These two areas belong to the daily living area of the local residents, and there is no systematic commercial planning and development, so it is a free area, no admission fee. There are a lot of small stores and houses run by local residents here, basically retaining the truest state of life in Wuzhen. You can go for a walk if you are interested. There are a lot of snacks and fun places hidden in the corners.
South fence north fence
The two areas belong to the main attractions of Wuzhen, East Gate 100 yuan / Zhang, West Gate 120 yuan / Zhang, East Gate West Gate 150 yuan / Zhang (valid for two days, multiple entry and exit must be issued with the scenic area accommodation certificate can be effective). Military personnel, the elderly, primary and secondary school students with documents can enjoy the East Gate 60 yuan, West Gate 80 yuan, a combined ticket 105 yuan discount.
Tip: The ticket office does not sell tickets after 14:00. However, if you live in Zaxi, you can buy a pass at the check-in place and visit Dongjia the next day (all valid until 15:00 the next day, provided you live in Zaxi scenic area).
Tips:
The joint ticket requires you to stay in Dongjia or Zaxi scenic area, for multiple entry and exit documents can be multiple times in and out. Otherwise, even if it is a joint ticket, once you are out of the scenic area,
