She is destined to be the guardian of Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes.
1987, the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang, China, was included in the world intangible cultural heritage, but it is such a historical and cultural treasure house on the ancient Silk Road in China. After experiencing turmoil, wars and thieves, it was almost in ruins for a long time. She has spent more than 50 years protecting and restoring this treasure house, from youth to hair, and has done her best for its sustainable use and permanent preservation.

She is Fan Jinshi, the guardian of Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes and the third president of Dunhuang Research Institute. She is also affectionately known as "the daughter of Dunhuang".

Fan Jinshi is a thin girl who was born in Beiping and grew up in Shanghai. When she was born, she already had a sister at home. She and her second sister are twins. Father wanted his daughters to read more poems, so he named them "Fan" and "Fan Jinshi" respectively.

This name is taken from Eight Elegances of Life in Chyi Chin Shuhua's Wine and Tea. There are books and poems that convey parents' good expectations for their children. They don't expect to do anything earth-shattering They just want her to live this life peacefully and gracefully.

I didn't know that Xiao Fan Jinshi had huge energy in her body, which was vividly reflected after she graduated from college and joined the work.

Fan Jinshi got excellent grades in middle school. He likes reading books, especially history. He saw a section about the Mogao Grottoes in the history books.

The Mogao Grottoes not only have exquisite murals, but also attract people's attention. The murals fly in the sky, and some cross the flower basket with their arms; Picking flowers, some embrace the pipa, gently pluck the silver strings, some ribbons fly, proudly swim all over the sky, and some stretch their arms and dance.

Fan Jinshi was attracted by these beautiful words and full of yearning for Dunhuang, dreaming that one day he could enjoy this beautiful scenery with his own eyes.

I yearned for Dunhuang. Influenced by my father, I reported to the Department of History of Peking University as an archaeology major without thinking.

My father, Fan Jilin, graduated from Tsinghua University and is an engineer. He has been a lecturer in Peking University for two years and often goes to museums to see cultural relics exhibitions.

So she knew very early that through archaeological excavations, exquisite cultural relics were unearthed. Therefore, she is full of reverie about the profession of archaeology and thinks that archaeological work must be very interesting. She can not only read poetry books, but also travel around famous mountains and rivers, which she thinks is a fun and interesting career.

1962, that is, in the last year of college life, Teacher Su Bai chose her to practice in Dunhuang. She was extremely happy because the beautiful Dunhuang pictures in the book outlined a particularly beautiful paradise for her.

I didn't expect to see Dunhuang, except for the shocking grotto art, other aspects were unsatisfactory.

Especially the local living conditions. There is no electric light, running water and sanitary facilities in the room. For her from a big city, the conditions are very difficult.

Due to acclimatization and lack of nutrition, I have insomnia almost every night, so I have to end my internship early.

After graduation, he was directly assigned to Dunhuang by the school. At that time, she actually couldn't understand why she was assigned to Dunhuang because she was not acclimatized in Dunhuang.

Perhaps it was fate that made a good choice, or perhaps it was because I still loved Dunhuang in my heart.

In this way, I obeyed the distribution, thinking of serving the motherland and going to the places where the motherland needs it most.

It opened her indissoluble bond with Dunhuang.

After I arrived in Dunhuang, I studied under two old experts, Chang Shuhong and Duan Wenjie, the earliest Dunhuang experts in China. Influenced by the spirit of the older generation, I watched them willingly give up their rich lives and take root in Dunhuang.

Finally, she was buried in front of the Mogao grottoes and looked at them. This belief in guardianship has also melted into her soul, and her heart has become more and more firm. So she stayed year after year and fell in love with Dunhuang.

I am willing to devote my life to Dunhuang.

Dedication is not just shouting slogans, but protecting Dunhuang with practical actions.

She said, "We should not only focus on contemporary protection, but also strive to pass on all the values and historical information of the Mogao Grottoes to future generations in a complete and authentic way. We have no right to destroy the cultural heritage left by our generation to future generations.

So she started archaeological research on the age and stages of caves and visited 735 caves in the Mogao Grottoes.

The first volume of The Complete Works of Dunhuang Grottoes (Archaeological Report) was published, which was called exquisite by Tsung i Jao, a professor at the University of Hong Kong. I admire it very much.

This is the result of years of unremitting efforts led by Fan Jinshi.

In order to leave future generations with the wealth of protection and research.

Dunhuang archaeology is the accumulation of time and years for her, and it is a gift of time.

In this way, she took root in Dunhuang 19 years of long-distance love, her husband, Mr. Peng, gave up his job at Wuhan University and transferred to Dunhuang Research Institute because she said, "I love Dunhuang and can't bear to leave."

Fortunately, after arriving in Dunhuang, Mr. Peng began to study cultural relics and even fell in love with Dunhuang. He took the lead in excavating and cleaning the northern area of Mogao Grottoes, increasing the number of caves from 492 to 735, which made an important contribution to the archaeological excavation and cultural relics protection in Dunhuang.

Someone once asked about the love between Peng and Fan Jinshi. Peng A:

Fall in love in Weiming Lake, fall in love in Luojia Mountain and stay together in Mogao Grottoes.

Even Fan Jinshi said, "Lao Peng is a good husband who is hard to find with lanterns."

"Without his support, this family may be scattered."

With Peng Aixin's support, Fan Jinshi can take root in Dunhuang with more peace of mind and make better contributions to the protection research of Dunhuang.

Dong Qing once said among readers, "The Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang are disappearing in a very slow but truly irreversible way."

Fan Dean Jinshi is trying to make this non-renewable and immortal cultural relic permanently used and preserved to some extent.

In order to achieve permanent preservation and continuity, she opened the door of "Digital Dunhuang".

The incident originated from the theft of 1908 Mogao Grottoes. One of them is a Frenchman, Pelliott. He is not an ordinary thief. He is an archaeologist. As can be seen from the photos, the Mogao Grottoes at that time were blurred in some places, degraded in some places, and fell off in some places.

Fan Jinshi thought that to step up the archival work and keep it is to step up the archival work and take photos, but the photos will change color after a long time. Is this document useful?

I've been doing it for ten years. By the end of 1980s, I was on a business trip in Beijing, and a friend knew that she was paying attention to this technical protection. She took Fan Jinshi to see the computer and said, "As long as the image becomes digital, it will never change."

Just do it, and she has since opened the door to "Digital Dunhuang".

Willing to be a cold bench, able to keep the initial heart, able to withstand loneliness, not afraid of difficulties, try again and again.

In this way, another ten years passed, and by the end of 1990s, through cooperation with foreign countries, the track was laid in the cave. The map of Wutai Mountain is more than 0/3 meters long, 3 meters high and 40 square meters high. It is made up of more than 6000 such photos, and it will not be deformed at all.

In this way, digital Dunhuang has also been preserved and achieved initial results.

At the beginning, this project was opposed by many people because of its huge cost and unclear effect.

But Fan Jinshi never hesitated, pushed his way through the crowd and spent nearly 30 years to prove all this.

She hopes that future generations can appreciate Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes, a beautiful art treasure house, like her.

On May, 2065438 1 day, the "Digital Dunhuang" resource database was launched. From then on, people all over the world can enjoy 30 caves, 10 dynasty HD images and panoramic roaming for free through the Internet.

In this way, she let everyone see Dunhuang, understand Dunhuang and get close to Dunhuang.

Dan Jixiang, director of the Palace Museum, once said, "Cultural relics have dignity. They don't want to stay in the dark room and sneak away. They are eager to be seen and to live.

What we need to do is to promote the balanced development of protection and utilization, so that the splendid culture created by our ancestors can be truly and completely passed on to our descendants through our hands, our times and our cities. "

All this, Fan Jinshi did it. She sent Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes to the world and even to the future.

She succeeded in continuing Dunhuang.

The famous writer Feng Jicai once commented on the Mogao Grottoes: History is the most faithful companion in the future. The oldest Silk Road, which once crossed the country, will not only lie in this desert and be forgotten, but it must still be in the hope and belief of all people on earth for the future. Calm down, you will definitely hear the magnificent and dignified echo left by history from the colorful cave walls of Mogao Grottoes.

It must be the Dunhuang of mankind, and it must be the Dunhuang forever.

Without Fan Jinshi's insistence for more than 50 years, the development of Mogao Grottoes is still in a fog.

It is like a life that has lived for thousands of years, magnificent and full of traces of melting by the torrent of history.

For more than 50 years, Fan Jinshi has adhered to the desert, protected Dunhuang and actively carried out international cooperation, making indelible contributions to the application for the Mogao Grottoes and the development of "Digital Dunhuang".

In order to preserve forever and leave precious wealth for future generations, she made the most practical efforts, persisted in the hardest perseverance, exhausted all her courage, changed history, created miracles and touched all China.

In the acceptance speech that moved China on 20 19, he wrote:

Give up half your life for the vast desert. From the unnamed lake to the Mogao Grottoes, keep the fire of our predecessors and open up the road of tomorrow. Half a century of sandstorms, not everyone can stand blowing lights. A cavity of love, a hole of painting, a cultural journey, from youth to white hair. The destination of the heart is Dunhuang.

Really worthy of being the appointed guardian of Dunhuang, the daughter of Dunhuang.
