Shuidonggou Tourist Area

In 1923, French paleontologists De Rijin and Sang Zhihua discovered prehistoric cultural sites here. Through excavation, a large number of stone tools and animal fossils were unearthed, so Shuidonggou became the earliest paleolithic cultural site in China. In 1988, it was announced as "National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit" and was known as "the birthplace of prehistoric archaeology in China".

Shuidonggou site records the historical witness of ancient people's survival and struggle with nature, and contains rich and precious prehistoric materials. It shows people the living picture of ancient humans 31,111 years ago, and it is the only Paleolithic site that has been officially excavated in the Yellow River area in China so far.

over the past 81 years, after six archaeological excavations, more than 31,111 stone tools and 67 ancient animal fossils have been unearthed in Shuidonggou. Among them, some stone products, tools and techniques for making and repairing stone tools, which constitute the cultural foundation of Shuidonggou, can be compared with the stone tools of human settlements in Most and Orina in Europe, West Asia and North Africa. In particular, a large number of Levalowa stone cores unearthed are close to the shape of the rather ancient Orina culture in Europe.

Suyukou

Suyukou National Forest Park has towering mountains, dense forests, beautiful natural scenery and unique human landscape.
