Shu embroidery
Also known as "Sichuan embroidery", produced in Chengdu, Sichuan.
As early as the Han Dynasty, Chengdu's weaving industry is very developed, the court also set up a special Jin official to manage, so Chengdu is also known as "Jin City". Western Han literati Yang Xiong in the "Shu Du Fu" said: "If the swinging brocade cloth embroidery, looking at the mango Ruoxi no width. He also said that in Chengdu, one could see everywhere the scene of "waving the arm to weave brocade" and "spreading silk to embroider". During the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, two dynasties were established in Sichuan, the former Shu and the latter Shu. At that time, there were frequent wars in the Central Plains, and Sichuan was the only place that could remain isolated, creating favorable conditions for the development of embroidery. At the same time, there was a great demand for embroidery, which also stimulated the development of folk embroidery. In the Song Dynasty, when the world was reunited, Shu embroidery had even greater development. According to Quan Shu Yi Wen Zhi, "The richness of Shu soil, silk and silk production, the people make ice embroidery and other things, called the crown of the world." Visible at that time, Shu within the embroidery of the flourishing.
Shu embroidery is a general term for embroidery products centered in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. It uses soft satin and colored silk as the main raw material, using unique embroidery techniques, embroidered quilt covers, pillowcases, clothes, shoes and painting screens. The characteristics of Shu embroidery and stitching can be summarized as follows: "Neat stitches, bright threads, tight and soft, and a good car twist". The so-called "car" refers to the key parts of the embroidery, such as the eyes of an animal, the petals of a flower, etc. The needle starts from the center and gradually expands to the surroundings. The so-called "twisting" refers to the use of stitches of different lengths, gradually adding or subtracting stitches from the outside of the embroidered image to the inside. This unique embroidery work makes the embroidery works have tension and relaxation, moderate density and sparseness, thus, Shu embroidery has the artistic effect of ink and wash painting. The most famous work among the treasures of Shu embroidery produced by Chengdu Shu Embroidery Factory is "Whip Hibiscus Carp". This product in the white satin material, with a few pink whip hibiscus flowers as a backdrop, seven fat and plump carp, the size of the difference, before and after the swim with, shaking their tails, free and easy. It looks like some are moving and some are still, some are floating on the water surface and some are sinking under the water, making a clear distinction.
Shu embroidery production company is the Sichuan Chengdu Shu Embroidery Factory. 1981, Shu embroidery works participated in the Sichuan Provincial Export Commodities Exhibition, went to the United States Philadelphia exhibition, was highly appreciated. In the same year in the National Arts and Crafts Hundred Flowers Award Competition, Shu embroidery works won the Silver Cup Award.
