1)Songyang Old Street

This is the old commercial street of Songyang's thousand-year-old county town, where you can still see the ancient city's former glory. Nanzhi Street is located in the southern area of Songyang County and is more than 400 meters long, although it is not as well known to tourists as Hangzhou's Hefang Street or Nanjing's Fuzhimiao. But it is bustling with locals walking here every day, especially when it comes to the market.

After arriving at Nanzhi Street, Pony was recommended to see the buildings lining the street from the Ming and Qing dynasties to the Republic of China. Of course, there are some old crafts in the stores to highlight.

Tips:

What's worth trying on the Old Street: when you arrive at the Old Street, you can't miss the local snack, distiller's five-grain large intestine noodles. The store is a traditional cooking method of burning wood on a clay stove, so the noodles are made to taste more grounded.

How to get to South Street:

It is only a 10-minute walk from Songyang Bus Station to Old Street. The exact route is labeled on the map below.

(2) Songyang Museum

The Songyang Museum has a small collection and is small in size, but in general has very few visitors. But for ponies, this Songyang Museum is also worth clocking in.

You can focus on the celadon phoenix ear vase from Longquan kiln, a national treasure of the Southern Song Dynasty. It's also worth checking out some of the Buddha's heads and tiles unearthed at Yanqing Temple Pagoda.

How to get to Brother Jinshi Square:

Songyang Museum of Intangible Cultural Heritage: This exhibition hall doesn't have valuable artifacts, but it's worth punching in as a traveler who likes the humanities. Pony learned a lot about Songyang's local customs, such as Songyang Gaoqiang, Zhuxi Festival, and lanterns on the hillside, which will surely let you know more about Songyang.

But Songyang is a famous attraction here, and it is a residential building in Qing Dynasty style. Once you enter the ancient residence, you will be attracted by the horse head wall and wood carvings inside.

Personally, I think the most recommended viewpoints of the Huang Family Residence: 200 words of longevity in Baishou Concert Hall; different patterns of window carvings and window panes in Meilan, Bamboo and Chrysanthemum Hall.

How to get to the Huang Family Residence:

The Huang Family Residence is about 3km away from the county town, and I personally recommend taking a taxi. There are fewer cars on the way back, so you can pay more for the driver to wait outside for your return.

Warm tips: Huangjia compound is an ancient residence, so if you do not don't do your homework in advance, I believe you can finish the tour in ten minutes, but after you do your strategy, you can take your time to enjoy at least an hour.

(5) Yanqing Temple Pagoda

This pagoda is the most valuable attraction in Songyang as it is the only national key cultural relics protection unit in Songyang. This tower is a rare authentic Northern Song dynasty in Jiangnan. Unlike Leifeng Pagoda which was built at a later stage, so it is a real thousand year old pagoda which is very rare. This tower is still leaning, but it it is still not there. I still admire the ancient people's great skill.

You can climb the tower, but only on the second floor. In addition, there is an exhibition hall next to it, which houses many artifacts unearthed from the tower, such as tiles and bricks. It is recommended that individuals spend at least an hour visiting to appreciate the charm of this thousand-year-old pagoda.

How to get to Yanqing Temple Pagoda:

It s not far from the county, so I personally recommend taking a cab. You can choose to visit Huangjia Compound and Yanqing Temple Pagoda together, which not only saves time, but also saves money.

Other alternative travel destinations:

If you have more time, you may want to go deeper into the following villages, focusing on Yangjiatang Village, Hengkeng Village, Chenjapu Village, Daitou Village, Xiayang Village, Shuiwashikuang and so on, all of which are very pristine ancient villages.

5. What are the best foods to try when traveling to Songyang?

While Songyang Chengdu's food is not as famous as Xi'an's famous An and other big food cities in the country, the province is not like the snack towns of Shaoxing and Quzhou.
