Shantang Street The northwest end of Shantang Street reaches Tiger Hill, and the southeast end is in Nagato. The street is parallel to Shantang River, and the ancient bridge crosses the river. On both sides of Shiban Street, there are old houses and shops with white walls. At night, the lighted red lanterns are reflected in the river, which is suitable for taking pictures. You can also take a cruise, or find a teahouse to drink tea and listen to pingtan.
Shantang Street is about seven miles from southeast to northwest, so it is called "Qili Shantang". Shantang Street has a history of thousands of years. It was built by Bai Juyi, a poet in the Tang Dynasty, when he was an official in Suzhou. Now, at the southern end of the street, you can see the Baigong Temple built by people to commemorate Bai Juyi. Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty had a special liking for Qili Mountain Pond, and the Imperial Monument Pavilion written with imperial brush has been well preserved. There are also monuments such as memorial archways, ancestral temples and halls, and there are more than a dozen halls alone. It used to be the offices of foreign chambers of commerce in the Soviet Union, most of which were built in the middle of Qing Dynasty.
Suzhou Pingjiang Road Pingjiang Road is a historical old street and a path along the river in Suzhou, with a total length of about 1.6 km. Suzhou ancient city is the most intact area so far, which can be called the epitome of the ancient city. There are alleys such as Suspension Bridge Lane, Daru Lane, Zhongzhangjia Lane and Daxinqiao Lane on the east and west sides, especially there are many water lanes in the east, which are parallel to the river street and have the characteristics of Jiangnan Watertown.
