Transportation Overview
Located in the southeast corner of Jimei, covers an area of nearly 9,000 square meters. Originally a small island off the southeast coast of Jimei, there is a small temple on the island called Ao Tou Gong, also known as Li Qian Gong. It was built in 1950 by Mr. Chen Jiageng in ten years. It consists of three parts: a porch, a monument to the liberation of Jimei and the mausoleum of Chen Jiageng.
The entrance hall is exquisitely and freely designed, with a chain of group carvings carved on the walls of the two compartments. In the center of the park stands the "Jimei Liberation Monument", with an inscription by Chairman Mao Zedong on the front and Mr. Chen Jiageng on the back. The whole monument is 28.6 meters high and made of granite. The base has two levels, with eight steps on the lower level and three steps on the upper level. It symbolizes the eight-year war of resistance against Japan and the three-year war of liberation and is surrounded by green stone pillars.
South of the monument is the mausoleum of Mr. Chen Jiageng, now a national key cultural relics protection unit. The tombstone is made of terrazzo granite and is inscribed with gold-colored clerical script. The body of the tomb is in the shape of a long-lived turtle and the tomb pool is in the shape of a horseshoe. The roof is made of thirteen pieces of terrazzo blue barrel stones. The left, right and back sides of the tomb room are covered by a bluestone shadow wall with fifteen relief portraits of important experiences in the first half of Chen Jiageng's life. The memorial pavilion in front of the tomb and the photo wall behind the tomb are carved in bluestone, elegant and solemn. There are three kinds of stone carvings in the Ao Garden: relief carvings, shadow carvings and monumental carvings.
