Beautiful scenery is everywhere, but volcanoes are not everywhere. Tengchong is called a city on a volcano. Because of its geographical location, frequent geological activities and frequent volcanic eruptions. Tengchong has become one of the places with the most craters in China. Of course, due to the age, many craters have been difficult to maintain their eruption shape. Some well-preserved volcanoes have been protected and are now Tengchong Volcano National Geopark.
Tengchong Volcano National Geopark, not far from Tengchong city, can be reached in about 40 minutes by car. Walking into the park, there is a volcano museum. There are many address specimens in the museum. You can have a look if you are interested. If you are not interested, you can choose to climb the volcano on foot or watch it in a hot air balloon.
There are 97 volcanic bodies in the park, which were formed from Pliocene to Holocene from 3.4 million to 654.38+million years ago, and four of them were formed about 654.38+million years ago. Due to the long-term strong weathering, most of the volcanic lava formed earlier was destroyed, and only six domes or volcanoes of volcanic mountains remained. Some are dormant volcanoes.
